I've addressed that elsewhere in the last few days here. Bragg's case was a complete fiction and twisting of NY law into a pretzel.

Merchan all but tossed Bragg's case out of court. By granting unconditional discharge, he essentially admitted Bragg had nothing regardless of the verdict rendered. Merchan was in full CYA mode in rendering that verdict. The case still has to go to appeal where it's likely Bragg will lose bigtime.

They've already been undone except for the paperwork. By giving Trump "unconditional discharge" Merchan in effect said, "I find you guilty, but there'll be no fine, no penalty, no jail time. On your way, have a nice day!"

If Trump truly were guilty of 34 felonies you'd think the presiding judge would sentence him to prison time and restitution of those who were the victims of his crimes.

Congress passed a law banning Tik Tok. The Supreme COurt ruled upholding that law.

Trump took power and said 'fuck your laws... Tik Tok stays and gets to thrive in America' after one meeting with a wealthy Tik Tok shareholder when Trump was prior one of the loudest voices saying Tik Tok needs to go.

Trumps guilt is affirmed and not being undone. that "paperwork" affirming Trump is a convicted fraudster is what matters.

but as a sitting POTUS cannot be sentenced without the SC getting involved and likely undoing it Merchan made a pragmatic choice.

Why did Congress want to ban Tik Tok? Maybe because it is a Chinese company with deep ties to the Communist party in China? That's a pretty good reason to ban Tik Tok.

Did Trump claim banning Tik Tok was a "national security issue?" or not?

Did Biden sign legislation demanding Tik Tok divest from its Chinese parent company ByteDance?

Whether you get a life sentence or an unconditional discharge has ZERO IMPACT on the judgement issued by the jury.

The sentencing is a separate and distinct part that happens AFTER the finding is rendered and has ZERO IMPACT on the finding that was rendered.

Many convicted people get unconditional discharges for varied reasons after a guilty verdict.

Trump is a felon and nothing changed that.

And the reason giving as to why Merchan did not and would not stay his ruling until Trump left office is because the SC would almost certainly dismiss it. The idea of a sitting active POTUS being under the gun of the Courts knowing he has a judge waiting to assign punishment to him when his 4 years concludes is something that could create massive conflict between the Executive and the Judiciary branches.

The Congress passed a law banning Tik Tok in the US and the SC affirmed it.

Trump then said he would ignore the law and allow them to continue to operate. He broke the law.
