Racism is alive well in the USA

:0)

The question is why do blacks feel unwelcome in the Republican Party now? Is that a question worth asking? After all, the Republican Party was the party of African-Americans right up to and including Dr. King.

That answer is all too-obvious. Someone already mentioned Nixon's Southern Strategy .. and again, look at the picture of who you are.

Being a republican does not necessarily make one a racist and being a democrat does not neccesarily make one not. But without question the Democratic Party is far more aligned with the goals and aspirations of the African-American population than the Republican Party .. even in the diminshed corporate-owned state that the Democratic Party now finds itself in.

Who do you think is in a better position to determine what is in the interests of African-Americans?

African-Americans or a party full of white men?

Surely you believe that we are capable of thinking for ourselves, do you not?

your position begs the question. you're basically saying that black people choose to align themselves with the democrats due to racism in the GOP. you also seem to say that because the GOP is full of white men, that this is not in the interest of african americans.

it is an odd stance, because it ignores that the democrats are also full of white men. if you look at the democrat party leadership, you will not find many who are not white. it is also ignores that there are black republicans.

perhaps black people align with the democrats over policies and not just about racism, for as you say, it exists in both parties.

as to your last question....what did i ever say to make you ask that? did i claim to speak for anyone or claim someone couldn't think for themselves?

I have said that I think BAC's comment are really thoughtful, intelligent, insightful & intelligent.

What more would you like?

so typical of your retarded hackery. you bash me for asking him a question about his comments, then you never bother to actually discuss his comments.

you're nothing but sad sniping hack. you rarely contribute anything positive to this forum.

That's a strawman. You're missrepresenting what he said.

I don't disagree with much of what you've said here brother. Democrats are the lesser to African-Americans and they obviously offer more opportunity to voice our concerns and to participate in the legislative process. It's just that simple. There was a time when that opportunity came from republicans .. and we were republicans then.

My last question wasn't really a question. I already believe that you think all are capable of thinking for themselves and you've said nothing to cause me to question that. It was a statement of fact. The majority of us are democrats because they see democrats are the intelluigent choice between the two.

Personally, I don't do lesser evil.

I think its so incredibility telling....lefties don't know racism even when it hits them square in the face....

Just imagine the opposite.....take a scholarship away from a black student and tell them it was meant only for a white student and watch what happens.....

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
We have a Black Chamber of Commerce
We have a Black History Month.
We have the United Negro College Fund
We have Black Entertainment Television Network....
We have a Miss Black American pageant, white woman not allowed
We have over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the USA

Take any one of those an replace Black with White and watch the ramifications.....

It is undeniable that racism is alive and well in the USA, and the dreams of those that of us that recognize and despise racism,
and the dreams of Dr. M. L. King are long dead
....

Now you all can commence with the name calling, etc., it won't bother me a bit, ..... but whatever you do, don't address the content of the post.....

Like Poet said....."If its true, it ain't racism"......

They didn't "take it away". The kid offered it back.

Again....your reply is irrelevant to my posts.....
Maybe you should try actually reading my post in bold at the top....
MY post deals with A 17-year-old student at King High School in Riverside has returned a $1,000 scholarship intended for black students because he is white.
Nothing more, nothing less....and the second with 'black only' conditions that would not be tolerated if the roles were reversed....

I don't need a history lesson about what YOU think about 1970's or 80's or whatever....
I didn't mention anything about how many black Republicans there are or were or will be.....
The days of Reconstruction are irrelevant as is the subjects of sexism and diversity to my post....
I didn't narrowly define what is racist, I said this event at this High School is racist....

You say, "The OP suggests that democrats were racist because the dixiecrat wing of the then Democratic Party stood in the way of racial progress. Yet, I repeat, democrats had more African-Americans in Congress in 1969 then republicans have had collectively since 1969. How does that not address the OP?"

There is nothing in the OP about dixiecrats or blacks in congress at all....your post is meandering all over creation and is totally inappropriate to the what the
issue of the thread

Either sober up or wait until you 'come down to earth' before you respond....lol...just a friendly dig, bro.

I have no problem with passionate responses or friendly digs good brother. :0) I took it as a friendly dig.

Here's the point that I'm making when I say that I have responded to the OP. When I read the story, all I saw was a feel good human interest story about the spirituality and compassion of a 17 year old white student. I am totally confused how anyone came away from reading that crying about racism. That is mindboggling to me.

It demonstrates exactly what I've said about how the right interprets society .. it demonstrates how the right attempts to use racism .. even where it does not exist.

However, I agree with the OP that racism does still exist in America and I've laid out in clear visual demonstration of exactly where it does still exist.

That was a feel good story brother. A bright and compassionate young white student .. given an award and scholarship by a body of black people that is dedicated to the memory of Dr. King, has the compassion and spirtuality to give it back so that it could go to someone who may be less fortunate than he. One would have to invent racism in that story .. and that is exactly what the right does.

To suggest that young black people and students have not reached out to young whites to help them .. sometimes even at their own expense .. demonstrates the thinking of one who is blind to society. Compassion and commradarie are human traits my brother.

From my perspective, this thread fucks up a really good human interest story that all Americans should feel good about.

My reminding the right of who they are when I post in threads like these should be expected.

He said that racism is more prevalent in the GOP, Yurt. Yes - you misrepresented that.

uh...no i didn't. BAC said he didn't disagree with much of what i posted. only an idiot like you would claim i misrepresented something he said. he never claimed that. you simply are incapable of rational thought.

You definitely misrepresented that. Calling me an idiot a dozen or so times won't change that.

You can't read, and have never been able to. Twisting words is your m.o. Deal with it.

Cite what? Your 1st question to BAC implied a monolithic view that he did not present. He said racism was more prevalent in the GOP; not that it didn't exist with Democrats, or that every Republican was racist.

You should really change your board name to "Cite."

why is it you get so upset and angry when you're asked to support your claims? is it because you know you are full of shit. you now have to stretch the truth about what i actually said and use "implied" to support your false allegation. i never claimed he didn't say it doesn't exist in the dem party you little liar.

you should change your board name to "liar"
