Question - can any Leftwinger explain the difference between SOCIALISM vs. COMMUNISM?

Bigdog

Harris - make America a 3rd world shithole
I'm asking leftwingers only - Communism vs. Socialism ... what's the difference ... from your leftwing viewpoint?

That's easy, Socialism is economic, Communism is political

There exists few pure Socialist economies, and nearly zero pure Communist governments

Did you fall asleep in civics in school?

Nonsense.

The above is true, it could also be put very crudely and for simplicity sake as a matter of degree, communism is an absolute while socialism is point on a political continuum.

More gobbledygook.

Socialism is State ownership of the means of production. How in the world is that apolitical?

Guess that wasn't what he learned listening to talk radio

I'm glad you like my avatar. :D

Socialism is State ownership of the means of production. How in the world is that apolitical?

Furthermore, how does "political" Communism differ "economically" from apolitical Socialism?

I'll take more shot at attempting to straighten him out

Socialism pertains to an economic system, a system at it's extreme where the Gov't totally controls the economy, there are less than three economies in the world today that meets this description.

Communism is a form of Gov't, it does not directly describe an economy, and there are few pure communist Governments in the world today

What you are doing is mixing the two domains as if everything is pure, quite the opposite, economies in the world today are mixed, as is forms of Gov't..

Technically "communism" almost always refers to Marxism-Leninism, which is an extreme form of socialism that revolves around a vanguard socialist party of professional revolutionaries seizing power and instituting socialism (there are exceptions, the leftcoms are communist but no Marxist-Leninist, but they are definitely in the minority of those who call themselves communist). Socialism itself is a rather broad philosophy that runs all the way from social democrats who are practically liberals to democratic socialists to non-Leninists Marxists to Marxist-Leninists at the far end. Just like nationalism goes from civic nationalists all the way to Nazi's.

Hardly...is socialism NON/APOLITICAL. Explain just how socialism can exist in a republic where Republicanism is guaranteed at all levels of government (article 4, section 4, clause 1) without being "political" in nature? It cannot? Why? Because the very definition of socialism states very clearly, "A political theory...get that? A political theory advocating STATE OWNERSHIP of INDUSTRY". What's the difference between socialism and communism? A gnat's ass.....Communism: "A FORM OF SOCIALISM THAT ABOLISHES PRIVATE OWNERSHIP."

Why attempt to deny the reality? Neither socialism or communism "sounds as good or rolls of the tongue like calling yourself a PROGRESSIVE..." Right, Comrade? It much the same as re-defining the human child that rests within the womb of a female into calling it A FETUS, or a THING not worthy of having any human rights. Its Alinsky 101 You assume the American Public to be stupid and uninformed.

We'll try it one last time, keeping it really simple;

"Socialism is commonly regarded as an economic system that seeks to achieve equality among members of society. Communism, on the other hand, is both an economic system that seeks equality among members of society and a political ideology that advocates a classless and stateless society and rejects religion. It is regarded as a more extreme form of socialism."

"Socialism and communism both adhere to the principle that the resources of the economy should be collectively owned by the public and controlled by a central organization. They differ, however, in the management and control of the economy. In socialism, the people themselves decide through communes or popularly elected councils on how the economy should work. This makes socialism a liberal system because majority of the people have a say on how the economy should be run. Communism, on the other hand, controls its economy through a single authoritarian party. It is thus characterized as conservative because the economy functions based on the decisions of a few."

Contrary to what your demogogues have told you, they are not the same, and the end goal of socialism is not to have the Gov't run everthing

I prefer the TRUTH.....socialism and communism are twin brothers, one demands to own all Industry the other demands to own all property. Neither can find success in a Republic specifically designed to stop both types of government from usurping the authority of the rightful owners of the republic...THE PEOPLE not some collective that stifles individualism and incentive to work and own real property. The first and most obvious lie was your false premise that socialism is not a political move. Strike One....the 2nd lie is the false premise that socialism is not related to the theory of communism in the least.

I am surprised that you would disagree with the text book definition of both as defined by Merriam Webster....no, I'm not really, the greatest trick ever preformed by Satan is to make people believe that he does not exist. You can attempt to propagandize and re-define Socialism/Communism but its a most difficult thing to kick against the objective pricks that contain and tie you communists to reality

Amazing, all those European nations, some with a higher standard of living than the US, are all democratic republics with varying degrees of socialist economies, now how is that possible with your understanding? Hell, the US has been partially socialist since the 19th Century and we've still managed to do pretty well, one would wonder how it ever happened based on your view

Nothing personal, but your "truth" is based upon talk radio rhetoric, no nation in the world has a pure socialist or capitalist economy regardless of politics, they all have mixed economies, as do we

You still seek to deflect, rather than answer the questions.
