IMO, this is what Putin wants; to recognize the entire disputed area as a separate state. He'll move his army into Eastern Ukraine, South Russia, Putinastan or whatever they call it and then it will be Putin's Army standing off the world saying "Come and take it". That's his end game.

He's the winner and the West will declare "Democracy in action" after Putin agrees that Ukraine is sovereign and agree on where the lines will be drawn.

It is about Russia trying to destroy NATO. Trump talked about America withdrawing from it. NATO was designed as a defense against Russian expansion.Putin had his man in the Whitehouse. Trump was after a new world order and Putin would have been a star.

The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was to supplement the existing pipeline in order to provide more gas to Europe. It is a commercial project between adult states. No Slavic ninjas were expected to emerge from it in Germany and no Neo-Nazi extremists were expected to transit into Russia. It is a commercial project between adult states.

The US doesn't want Russia integrated into Europe. It wants the co-operation ended. Ukraine is being used- by NATO- as a ploy to divide Europe from Russia. NATO agreed not to expand eastwards. It lied.
