I just joined this site. I had hoped for intelligent debate, a condition lacking in some other sites I tried. Looks like I'm wrong again. Let's try a few questions.

1. The flood of illegals would stop if no one hired them. So, throw the book at anyone who knowingly hires an illegal.
2. Test the theory that American citizens will not do the work by offering a living wage and finding out if there are any takers.
3. Provide an honest answer as to the increase in food prices if the work is not done by illegals. Ask the American populace if they will mind paying the difference.
4. Take a careful look at the living conditions of illegal farm workers. Take a little time thinking about how to fix that along with the complaints that they here.
5. Consider whether the claims that legalization just might be a good thing since we need some laborers to pay into social security and medicare as we free-loading baby-boomers make our way through the demographics. (Just kidding about that free-loading. We have paid our way about as well as prior generations).

So, consider these as possible conversation starters. It might be more fun that calling names.
 
Good post. I have always said that if we are really serious about stopping illegal immigration, simply throw the CEO's of every company found to be employing them in a hard time prison for five years. It would only take one or two... Leland Tollett of Tyson or Jim Perdue... And in the blink of an eye, the jobs would dry up. But the chamber of commerce, and, therefore, the GOP will not support such a common sense solution. No massive increases in border patrols,no huge expensive fences... Just a few empty prison cells . If there were no jobs, there would be no illegal immigration. Period.

I certainly never said I advocated one party rule...but hey, I'm a democrat. do you really expect that I would root for GOP success? as I have said... I WANT the GOP to remain viable at a regional level, and I want them to always believe that they still will be a viable national party going forward, because I would prefer the toothless devil that I know to the devil that I do not know.
