prospect of impeachment ?????? Really ?

Why did you forget this sentence in your post as part of the first paragraph?: The House version specifically called for consultation between the President and the leadership and appropriate committees. This was changed to less specific wording in conference, however, in order to provide more flexibility.

As enacted: SEC. 3. The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations.

What part of "in every possible instance" and "before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances" did Obama comply with?

I guess because he needed/wanted more flexibility as the act legally allows him to have :D

pssst... I added back your deleted sentence for clarity-

Pssst. Commentary is not part of the law.

This is the relevant section.

"Section 3 of the War Powers Act provides:

"The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations."

In every possible instance.

Before.

Read and discuss.

pssst-idgit-what you posted is an ongoing commentary OF THE LAW as it has/is evolving. Further, the sentence you continue to leave off, as it does not serve your disingenuous purpose, is proof of that. You need to read and comprehend that which you post.

Interesting. Your assertion is that the War Powers Act is "evolving"?

Here's the source of the official text, which reads (verbatim) "CONSULTATION SEC. 3.
The President in every possible instance shall consult with Congress before introducing United States Armed Forces into hostilities or into situation where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances, and after every such introduction shall consult regularly with the Congress until United States Armed Forces are no longer engaged in hostilities or have been removed from such situations."

Please note that the text The House version specifically called for consultation between the President and the leadership and appropriate committees. This was changed to less specific wording in conference, however, in order to provide more flexibility.[/QUOTE] appears nowhere in the law.

Thanks for playing.

Biden threatened to impeach Bush over the same thing that the Obama just did:

LOL,Wasnt Biden a Senator? I thought Impeachment starts in the House and is sent to the Senate for Trial.

http://library.findlaw.com/2000/Aug/1/130987.html

Article I § 2 of the United States Constitution gives the House of Representatives the sole power to impeach (make formal charges against) and Article I § 3 gives the Senate the sole power to try impeachments

You completely missed the point. How come Biden isn't calling for The Obama's impeachment, since he just did the same thing that he said he would impeach Bush for?

i haven't seen one dem, doesn't mean there are no dems, who have called biden out for this....

i -- do not -- wonder why

The usual hypocrisy. I was originally supportive of The Obama on this, not realizing that he wasn't going to bother to get the support of Congress. I gave him the benefit of doubt, and it turns out he didn't deserve it.
