Projections for Tuesday Night

no one says they want to be wrong

but:

1) elections are sparse. even if you are wrong nobody is going to remember or pay attention to it in another 4 years. CBS poll was like 17th out of 25 in 2008. Nobody cares.

2) gets people talking, gets people checking out their page, which translates to revenue

3) some papers are lazy and want to get data out immediately. The story and the talk around it is likely more important, especially when taking into account #1

I guarantee you the campaigns aren't following the NYT or CBS or other random polls to help project what they do in the race. There is a reason for that. They have their own in house high quality pollsters who probably have a much higher grasp on what is going on. That goes for both campaigns

OK then why would they all be wrong in the Democrats favor?

I don't understand how anyone who lives in a populous nonswing state can support the EC. We get no attention, no one caters to us, while Bubba Fishface in bumfuck Ohio gets his every whim catered to. It's a crock of shit and gives way too much power to non-populous states. Fuck them.

We call him Mutt... and he has feelings... ya big bully.

Tell us Darla... how much attention do you think rural areas and less populous states will get if we go pure popular vote?

It boggles the mind that some of you think Romney has a chance in PA... while it may be closer than usual, I just don't see a big enough surge to carry PA for him.

OH and WI are certainly in play for Romney and could go either way. As could NC and FL. Though if you were going to call the states right now it would be the opposite of what you have. NC is almost a lock for Romney at this point, FL is the next closest. OH and WI will depend on turnout... If Dem early voting in Ohio is indeed down as is being reported, that is a bad sign for Obama overall. VA is at this point more likely for Romney than either OH or WI.
Down? Over 1.25 million have voted in Ohio early as of 10/26. That means early voting in Ohio, if this rate continues, should be around 1.75 million. Early voting in 08 was a little over 1.4 million. Exit polling indicate Obama has an early 12 to 15 point lead over Romney. It would appear that the trend for increased early voting has continued in Ohio despite the machinations of Secretary of State Husted to repress early voting.

FIrst of all, that's hilarious coming from you who would step over the swollen bodies of disaster victims on his way to taco grande without a second look except maybe to sniff about the proles stinking up his street with their post-mortem bodily releases.

I still have principles though and I stick by them, even if they don't directly benefit me. You probably like helping people so even your altruism is selfishly motivated because it makes you feel good. Or it gives you an excuse to take money from the true heros of society (the rich) to give to the unwashed masses who, if not for a flood would have found some other reason to be a money grabber.

Secondly, you're wrong - there are plenty of undecideds in NY, but they don't count, they don't matter. IN a popular vote, everyone counts, everyone matters. That's how it should be.

Sorry but I don't want a united states where campaigns only go to NY chicago and LA. Their issues aren't necessarily everyone elses issues. NY has chosen their own path. The majority there have spoken and they are responsible for their status in not being a swing state.

Hey if you want to live in a country where the concerns of a bunch of pig farmers are paramount, knock yourself out. I figure if Obama can mange to lose the popular vote and win the EC, after Bush did it in 2000, enough people will be pissed off and it will finally change. You are kidding yourself if you think the Republicans in this country won't go bugfuck nuts over that outcome. The legislation to end the EC will be drawn up the next morning.

It will be so entertaining I just can't envision a better outcome.

you are quite the elitest afterall. no wonder I like you. We must get together sometime, don't forget to bring your monocle and wine glass

VOL, dont backdown from the PA predictions, I am in agreement with you regarding PA. Its not going to be a cakewalk, its going to be very close, I think 1-2% if that. The Romney ads are running there. Obama totally buried the coal industry in PA. Obama will get the votes in Phiily & Pittsburgh, but the rest of the state is Romney's for the taking. I am hoping personally that it rains on Tuesday and keeps the lazy fair-weathered liberals away from the voting booths, that would swing it for Romney I think.

Rmoney didn't start running ads here until a few days ago. And your comment about the coal industry is simplistic and doesn't take into consideration the increase in natural gas usage. This cracks me up, repubs are pushing for fracking yet blaming Obama over any decrease in coal. You guys want it both ways. And remember the past, the rural areas of PA also went for santorum but Pittsburgh and Philly saved us from that horror.

the only hypocrite would be you, who all of a sudden wanted to upend the nations system of electing presidents as soon as it went against you. Republicans don't do that. That's why we are conservatives, we like conssseerrrrving shit. I guarantee you most conservatives on JPP will continue to support the EC either way. Probably most talking head conservatives will say the same thing.
As Pete Rose would say....."wanna bet"?

I think that Romney is going to squeak by in NY. I saw a Romney ad on the Soap channel the other night. It's going to be the biggest surprise of the night.

It's not like the old days when NY had a ton of electoral votes. Now it's down to a paltry 29. WTF has happened to the Empire State?
