Your view of Reagan is colored by the fact that he was a republican. The man did some good things for this country but he was not a saint and his administration violated the law. He said he did not know and I believe that probably Bill Casey and Oliver North ran that operation without his knowledge. But the bottom line was, he either lied about Iran Contra or he had NO CONTROL of his administration. Seeing as he is your saint, you decide which is true because neither is flattering.

Although the buck stops at the Presidents desk, due to the sheer magnitude of the job and the fact that authority must be delegated there are bound to be some errors. That does not belittle Reagan as the best man to hold that office in the 20th century.

They did nothing of the kind. The Nicaraguans held elections and Reagan didn't like the outcome so he kept funding the terrorist groups attempting to overthrow the democratically elected government.

And Congress had passed laws expressly forbidding such action, which Reagan's administration ignored.

WTF? Its not an error its ignoring the law. And because of the support given the Contras there were tens of thousands of people killed in Nicaragua.

So you claim that the US can and should use miltary force or fund terrorist forces if we think and election was rigged? You are justifying the deaths of tens of thousands (many were women & children) by saying Reagan didn't like the cheating counters of the ballots?
