Portlandia Loves Itself some Marxism

In the EU, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden are led by parties that are some variety of moderate socialists. Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, and Slovenia have coalitions which socialists are junior members of the coalition. Macron (France's leader) was a Socialist, but joined March. March is not completely socialist, but takes from socialism.

Socialism does not have a bad name outside of the USA.

Yeah, that's a really cool story. Actual socialism, which has left a trail of carnage, does have a bad reputation. One that isn't going away in the wake of the situation in Venezuela.

Also, America is the gold fucking standard. If something has a bad reputation here, but not in Europe, then it is a bad thing.

You are fucking retarded.

That is just a list of the countries in the EU current led by socialists. Most other Western EU countries have had socialists in control at one point or another. And almost all the Eastern EU countries right wing leaders have communist backgrounds and resort to communist economic solutions often. Concentrating on the Western EU, most countries have a moderate socialist wing of the mainstream, and a moderate conservative wing of the mainstream which takes socialist solutions seriously. They will usually bounce back and forth.

In fairness, the moderate socialists will often go with a "Third Way", where they don't even seem moderately socialist. But just as often the moderate conservatives will use the German pragmatism where they will support socialist programs.

This really bothers you Guille?

Rasmussen of the conservative Venstre Party was voted out of office over a year ago, and replaced by Frederiksen of the Social Democrats (a mild socialist party). So the voters of Denmark disagreed with you, and instead elected a socialist to reform what the conservatives had done.

That is the problem with using a 5 year old article.

Let me know when they abolish market liberalism.

Also, when they erect political prisons and start taking away rights.

10 were led by socialists. Another 6 had coalitions with socialists as junior partners. And one (France) had a hybrid socialist party with a former socialist as its leader. So that is 10 counties led by socialists.

Marx was just one of the thinkers in socialism, so it is not all together fair to call socialists Marxists. They usually take from Marx, but not all would call themselves Marxists.

As for being a junior partner in a coalition, they must always be offered something. That means they usually run something. Socialists being who they are will usually push for economic departments of government.

There does seem to be a lot of anger these facts are causing some posters. I am not even posting opinions here, just facts without comment on whether I agree or oppose policies.

The UK government nationalized healthcare decades ago. It is well beyond single payer. There are still a few controlled capitalist healthcare systems, Germany and Switzerland, but most of the rest are either single payer, or government controlled. The market for healthcare has been abolished throughout much of Europe.

We just object to people advocating an illberal ideology that causes actual death and other losses of rights. But, that's nothing for us to get angry about, right?

Anyway, it won't be long before Europe embraces actual socialism again, and then you can have your war way.

Did they nationalize grocery stores?

I liked how in a DarkHorse Heather talked about going downtown and she described it as "this looks like a place that used to be a city (paraphrase)"...this really gets to the deadness that the Regressive Left is causing....this is murder.
