Pope takes sides in a science debate

Mmm.. that really depends on the operable definition of "steward" you are using. The Biblical meaning of steward, and a steward's duties is likely the meaning used by the Pope which isn't the definition you are using. See here:

For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
 
to meet the li'bul definition of "steward" you have to be willing to waste tons of money, which contradicts Christianity's definition of steward......

Of course there is no evidence of Plate Tectonics......as described in scripture, "...mountains rose and valley's sank to the level's you decreed..." -- Psalms 104:8

And of course there is no evidence of ocean life fossils being found among even the highest mountain tops on earth...there is not one foot of the earth that has not been covered by water over the history of the earth as declared by the bible and applied science.

During the flood as described by God in the Holy Scriptures the entire topography of the earth changed as God decreed to ensure that there could never be another global flood, God Spoke and the mountains rose to their current heights (as evidenced by the fossil remains of sea life), the valleys sunk into the earth to make a place for the water, such as the deep trenches in both major oceans on the globe.

You covered it with the deep (again, confirmed by the science of Archeolgy), as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains; but at Your rebuke the waters fled at the sound of your thunder they took to flight, they flowed over the mountains; to a place you assigned them; You set a boundary they cannot cross: never again will they cover the earth." -- Psalms 104

Just like all atheists you attempt to apply what you are looking at TODAY and make the unproven CONJECTURE that things have remained the same throughout antiquity....when you are attempting to establish a false premise that being that you can apply today's evidence to that of antiquity (a position that you have no way to calibrate or quantify...as even the theory of carbon dating falls on its ass when its demonstrable that every square inch of the earth has been covered by water.....as science has proven simple water leeching can and does make the rate of radio active decay in the same elements used as a supposed absolute useless as carbon dating can only be calibrated for truth based upon the record of history...something that only has a viable 5000 year window.

So what do you do to make up for this obvious flaw? You attempt to date the fossils by your supposed age with the rock they are found in and the age of the strata by the fossils found therein. Its called circular reasoning.

I always presumed that there was a strong correlation between climate science denial, evolution denial, and scientific illiteracy.

Use Pharisees for Fertilizer

The aggressive use of Luke 16:12 made Pope Frankie pander to the modern Pharisees. A steward tends to the property of someone else; but God didn't make us stewards of His planet, He made us its owners.

The Alexandrian theologian Philo (50 AD) wrote that when two words mean the same, they must be referring to different things. So "increase and multiply" should mean increase the profits from our natural resources and get going on a high birth rate.
