FOX News is reporting that the police are walking back the statement that they engaged the gunman BEFORE he entered the building.

Now they say that no shots were fired BEFORE he entered the building.

The official clarified that the gunman was not confronted by a school resource officer outside the school, and apparently entered an unlocked door. "Approximately an hour" later the US Border Patrol tactical teams arrived and killed the suspect, he said.

The gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers in Robb Elementary School was not confronted by a school resource officer, according to Victor Escalon, South Texas regional director for the Department of Public Safety.

"It was reported that a school district police officer confronted the suspect that was making entry. Not accurate. He walked in unobstructed initially. So, from the grandmother's house to the bar ditch to the school, into the school, he was not confronted by anybody. To clear the record on that. Four minutes later, law enforcement are coming in to solve this problem," Escalon said during a news conference.

He said he "wanted to clear that up" amid reports to the contrary.

Escalon also said the school also appeared to be unlocked when the gunman entered.

"We will find out as much as we can why it was unlocked — or maybe it was locked. But right now, it appears it was unlocked," he said.

You cant wear a mask, but you want the school hardened... What does that even mean.

I was at my kids elementary school today. Its getting harder and harder to get in, and PARENTS need to get in and be a part of it. Having to limit access is harming our children much more than restricting access to AR-15.

There are conflicting reports at this time and I will agree that the report I read MIGHT be wrong. I would like to wait to see how they sort this out.

It may well be that the South Texas reginal director for the Department of Public Safety is under intense political pressure to say certain things, I assume he was not there.

INteresting how upset your ilk are about me passing on a reported detail with sources, but nobody mentions other posters screaming about the shooter having been an ILLEGAL ALIEN.
