Men had hundreds of years of affirmative action with women and minorities BLOCKED from competing in jobs.

It is the same reason white men dominated professional sports and the Olympics until the prohibitions were lifted and they had to face fair competition.

That's not quite true and not true for all societies. Technology changes things. In agrarian cultures, or even more primitive ones, the traditional relationship of male hunter/gatherers with females tending the home fires and watching the kids worked out the best for the tribe.

Two big ones are inbreeding is bad due to recessive genes and one male can't defend a village from marauders. Kids are necessary on subsistence societies for both the survival of the village, but also the parent's "retirement plan". Who else would take care of them when they become old and sick?

Technology changes that. Technology provides the means for society to diversify into government systems for protection and enforce laws, medical facilities to help the aged and infirm, and a variety of jobs which can be done by both men and women.

Societies should evolve with the tech. If the tech is gone, is there any doubt that human societies will revert to the same ones we've have for over 200,000 years?
