Paul Pelosi Attack

Sorry for starting another thread but can offer local's insight.

Everything on Twitter should be taken with large grains of salt but I saw people questioning how an intruder could get past the walls of the Pelosi home. The Pelosi's home isn't gated or walled off. It's worth $20m+ but any of us can walk up to it off the street. (When Pelosi is in town you will see two big black SUV's always parked in front with like six security guards who are all Italian guys in dark suits with slick backed hair as if straight out of central casting. You don't see them when she's not there.)

Considering who is wife is it's hard not to think of this as anything but a political attack, and we'll find out soon. At the same time crime is high in San Francisco and it's not exclusive to poor areas. Rich areas and rich people get robbed here so it's not out of the question that he was an unfortunate victim. We'll see.

If it's true this is what happens when you have a Democrat controlled city

Ought to see Biden’s residence in Rehoboth, same, unassuming house with neighbors on both sides right next door, you would never assume a President lives there. And when Kerry was Secretary of State, his home in Beacon Hill looked like just another brownstone, nothing particularly special

Appears it is what America has descended to, undercutting the election system while pimping hate speech is close to turning us into a third world country where violence is the next step.

I know right? That speech in front of Independence Hall ws just filled with hate. I'm so glad we agree.

She lives basically at the start of what they call Billionaire's row so it's not like this is some modest unassuming area. This is the creme de la creme of the City. Her home is worth millions. But being an urban area these aren't gated estates.

When people want to know why our DA was just recalled well here's another example. Crime feels off the charts here and no one is immune from it. Hamid Moghadam is the CEO of Prologis and lives less than five minutes from Pelosi (he's neighbors with Feinstein) and was robbed at gunpoint outside his home a couple of months ago. It made big news because of who he is and well he is connected to powerful people but it shows no one safe from it.

I'll throw this out as well. I don't know the Pelosi's but I have met two of her kids and have shaken Paul's hand. It's frightening that a 82 man was attached in his home. I really hope it is not politically motivated (not that some San Francisco crazy committing this act makes it any better). I'm not exactly sure what the goal would be to accomplish but I'm sure we'll find out soon.

From the few times I have been to San Francisco I noticed right away there were easily accessible areas that were best to avoid, and as I said before, the city is schizophrenic, it prides itself on supposedly being free, but doesn’t fully recognize the consequences.

And crime is up everywhere, not germane to urban areas, social norms and understandings have been eroded since rude and insulting rhetoric was legitimatized

You're not wrong in that for being such a progressive City there is a Libertarian element to it.

But today it isn't just "hey, don't go to the Tenderloin and you'll be fine". This stuff is everywhere, all over the City. There's an element of surrealness to it when I'll walk with my daughter down the street and we're surrounded by multi-million dollar properties and we'll have clearly drugged out/mentally ill people screaming at us and even threatening us. Being in Pacific Heights doesn't make you immune to the ills.

Move east, don’t have those problems in New England

And why should they, that’s were they survive the best

Given the accessibility of the Pelosi home I suspect it was a smash and grab by a street level criminal that thought he could quickly grab something of value. I suspect he thought the residence was unoccupied at the moment.
