The Ottomans did a lot of things that would piss me off such as waging wars against Greece and Russia, the Armenian genocide, and so forth, but they are far and away preferable to any other Mideast scenario.

I agree about the oil and profit. The answer is to start drilling for oil all over the US, especially in Alaska and offshore, we need to be completely free of Mid Eastern oil influences. I have said this many times on the old Board, and that there will be a day when Saudi Arabians will be filling their Swimming Pools with oil, because water will cost more than the oil.
If someone develops a paint that would act like a solar panel, then the price of oil would drop like a rock. Cars with this paint would have a drop down 5th wheels in the truck that would come down onto a level highway and keep your car going, say 60 miles per hour using solar and battery power. Houses and back yard fences would be painted using the solar paint, so your electric bill would be minimal. I understand that they are working on solar paint, right now. Technology is the answer.
The problem in the middle east will always be Israel, until Israel gives back the land back to the Palistinions, If not, I believe that the next WW3 will start because of Israel. Every jew in America needs to go fight for Israel, before we send any of our regular troops over there, do you agree or is that racist?

Yeah, I'd say this policy worked beautifully in Rwanda. As well, if the Germans want to gas a few German Jews, that's every bit their right, no reason for anyone to interfere.

The Greeks and the Russians really waged the wars against the Turks, not the other way around. The Turks were largely on the defensive throughout the whole 19th century.

I'm not saying it will be harmonious. I'm just saying that the problems will be contained, and the Turks would be willing to keep it that way. Much like how the world was often oblivious to ethnic and religious conflict going on behind the Iron Curtain until it came crashing down.

Perhaps you believe the Germans gassed Jews in a civil war .. but I don't .. neither does history.

As bad as Rwanda was, foreign invasion would not have made it better.
