‘Oppenheimer’ fanfare likely to fuel record attendance at New Mexico’s Trinity atomic

Downwinders are not new. Many of the facilities involved with making and testing of the nukes in the West of the US have significant downwinder populations. Studies have been done on these effects. One particularly disturbing one was a scientist in St. Louis who collected children's lost teeth to test for plutonium and other long-lived radionuclides from fallout from atmospheric testing.

It's reasonable that Trinity might impact folks downwind.

What did these children do to have that happen, eat the Plutonium? Plutonium is an alpha emitter. Other than through ingestion--and plutonium is a poison too--you can't be harmed by it. So, how did that happen?
