Oklahoma Executions

I think your formal view is more your intellectual view. That's what I think is happening with me. Intellectually I know the DP has to be abolished. But yes, when I hear these details of these kind of murders I don't get upset about the execution. I don't take pleasure in the details of the execution, and my stomach turns at torture, but it doesn't affect me in these cases. It's a very complicated, very emotional subject I think.

Actually, the details of executions are pittances compared to suffering victims endure. Executions are designed to be precise and as painless as possible. Even when they go horribly wrong, the criminal wins out over the victim. What goes through my mind is far more vindictive.

That said, I'm for ending parole for capital offenses, and stripping our maximum security prisons of TVs and goodies. Reserve that for the felons who will actually be returning to civilization, and could actually make use of keeping up with society.

The barbarism isn't in the executions per se, in fact I think it is too kind to the truly guilty, it is in the reality that no matter what we do at some point we will execute the innocent.

I have no idea what you are trying to say, but my perspective on the Bible is that Christians have their own interpretation of the scriptures and they are right and everyone else is wrong. It is very confusing. There are those Christians that say the Laws of Moses still appies and there are those, like you and several on here, who say Jesus fulfilled the law and it no longer applies.

When one is seeking the truth who do you believe? Which Christin speaks the truth? The New Testament states that Jesus fulfilled the law but that it should not pass away until heaven and earth passes away. How does one figure out exactly what YHWH wants?

You need to understand what you are hearing. Fulfilling the OT covenant means that Jesus is doing the fulfilling FOR you so that you alone are not responsible to do so. Sin is still sin, none of that ever changes. Right is right wrong is wrong. What has changed is that if you seek forgiveness of your sins, you can have it by accepting this gift from your lord and savior. Its really pretty simple, straightforward.
