Not at all. We wouldn't have nice things like PBS programming, endowments to universities, research, and the arts if they were.

That being said, the uber wealthy have flourished in the U.S. because of our system. Supporting that system through taxation is equitable and just.

There ARE economic reasons why those with great wealth should be taxed at a higher rate. Citizens who are not struggling to keep the lights on, pay their bills, feed their kids, pay for medical bills -- and who are able to show up at work daily because they can afford cab fare when their car breaks down -- are beneficial to society. People who can afford to buy things other than bare necessities make the economy work for everyone. A better educated populace boosts the economy as well. All of these things make it easier for the wealthy to continue to prosper.

Precisely...there are no economic arguments to be made against taxing the rich. There aren't even any economic arguments againstsoaking the rich.

Now, there's "Boomers", and then there are "OK, Boomers".

they got all the benefits of a powerful nation in full mercantilist mode. and they still get to feel good in old age outsourcing their grandchildrenz jobs. yes they were lied to, but that's an easy one to "go along with". now millenials get the baked in austere joy of "the new normal". they were lied to, but they could try harder to wake the fuck up.

Boomers did okay, they came along at a difficult time but they made progress.

The issue with Boomers now is that they are becoming increasingly irrelevant and moving out of the power center. This happens to every generation, when they start screaming for kids to get off their lawn's they have outlasted their place in the power center of the culture.
