OK Boomer

not buying all this LV

I raged against the machine until around 30, full-blown counter culture/hippie, when had to make some money to raise a Gen Xer. So that means I sold younger generations out, took all the money and ran, right?

you're coming off very angry and lashing out, blaming the older generation for all the evils of the world

that's the same thing the boomers were doing in the 60's, 70's, and into the 80's

direct your rage directly where it belongs, the Elite Class

oh and by the way, LV

how many street demonstrations have you attended or organized?

I attended three in the early 70's, OSU. A few of my buddies got their asses kicked by Statey's and the Columbus police, fortunately not me, choked on a little gas

maybe millennials and gen xers/yers/zers are too busy in the world of social media, ya think?

And the article goes on and well worth the read.

But what gets me is that the folks who benefitted off of Progressive policies now support Republican-lite establishment Democratic corporate owned representatives.

You fucking Millennials are the worst generation in history.

Fuckin' A, man....

Part of the "Me Generation" is the belief that you are entitled to your opinion.

You're not.

No one is entitled to an opinion. Entitlements are earned, and opinions are not. Like "BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE sAmE", saying "I'm EnTiTlEd To My OpInIoN" is a rhetorical trick to avoid admitting that your opinion is stupid and wrong, that you are a lazy fuck, and you should probably stop participating in the debate since you don't intend to do so in good faith.

Wow! You're as radical and extreme as CFM, TDaK and some of the other radicalized right wing nut jobs on this forum. It's hard to even believe you're real, that you're serious. You're hatred for boomers is just scary. Did one molest you as a child? Your rant is so misguided, so off-the-rails, I don't even know how to respond.

What in that quote is wrong?

So far, I've only met six other Americans who I'd consider both Social Democrat and Ethnic Nationalist. However, in Europe, this is quickly becoming the norm. In Europe, the Right is actually very liberal. European Righties will often say things like, Europe needs to stay white so we can keep our welfare states and have rights for women and gays.

Tho' Hitler mandated national health insurance like Obaaqm, Color is and was not the issue.

It's very simple. If you're going to have a generous welfare state in this day and age, you're going to attract the poor and third worlders.

I'm a Boomer and I don't believe any of that greed-is-good shit. A good lot of us don't.

There ARE economic reasons why those with great wealth should be taxed at a higher rate. Citizens who are not struggling to keep the lights on, pay their bills, feed their kids, pay for medical bills -- and who are able to show up at work daily because they can afford cab fare when their car breaks down -- are beneficial to society. People who can afford to buy things other than bare necessities make the economy work for everyone. A better educated populace boosts the economy as well. All of these things make it easier for the wealthy to continue to prosper.

Do you think that all millionaires are greedy?

Which is one of the reasons we should only let in white immigrants.

Paper bag test or DNA test. What percentages of "contamination" are acceptable to you? ... or are you a purist?

What about Asians and native Americans?

Far be it for me to stick up for Boomers (because you do suck) but two generations from now people will look at Gen Xers, Millenials and Gen Z and say they were racist, homophonic, sexist and on and on because times do change. So it’s funny to hear someone proclaim themselves so woke, and a supporter of cancel culture, today when future people will call you all of the above

Not you too. So how do boomers suck?
We grew up listening to Elvis, Beatles, Temptations, Supremes. We grew up watching Bonanza, Bewitched, Star Trek and Laugh-In. We played Monopoly, Twister, Parchesi, Yahtzee.
We lived through Viet Nam war lottery, three assassinations, Jim, Janis and Jimi leaving us too early. We endured a gas crisis, an Impeachment and subsequent resignation of a POTUS, Disco music. Bad economies, double-digit interest rates. My first mortgage had an 11% interest rate. Between 1964 and 1981, the stock market was relatively flat. In 1987, the market crashed and lost 22% of it's value IN ONE DAY. Then we had to deal with another war, another Impeachment, and another crash when the internet bubble burst. Then there was 9/11, Anthrax scare, DC sniper, two simultaneous wars and another crash in 2008.

Yeah, we had it so good. We had it so easy. Everything was handed to us. GMAFB

Social security is the purest form of welfare, you moocher.

You did not put money into a "fund" that scrupulous accountants watched for you until you were ready to withdraw it.

You paid for the retirement of the generations before you, in the expectation that generations behind you would pay to take care of you, in turn. That is exactly how SS works, moocher. That is a pure form of social welfare.
SSA retirement is not "welfare" it's not an entitlement program

Ok, what were we handed and what did we fuck up?

:) After WW2, the US was the Industrial Base to the World. Most High School Graduates could find a good paying Factory Job. College was cheap and affordable. After Bretton Woods, the US Dollar was the World Reserve Currency, effectively making the US #1 in the New World Order. We were handed EVERYTHING.
The Boomers took on War, Racial Strife, Woman's Equality, Drugs, Free Speech, and a Social Awareness. They did fairly well as Youth. As they aged, they lost their edge, became complacent, got fat, got lazy, and somehow ... watched Gore NOT win ... and then watched Hillary NOT win ... and now ... we sit here, sucking our thumbs, watching Trump shit on the Flag.
(scratching head) I'm not real sure how it happened, but we sure have let down the next generation.

I was just having some fun with that comment. 99.9% of this board is a right vs left political battle. Having some generational trash talk changes things up a little bit. (I'm Gen X)

Obviously every generation has its successes and failures. We are also a product of the time we live in. Trying to apply 2019 standards to things that happened 40 years ago is b.s. Some young kid in 2050 might look at a person like LV, who thinks he's so woke today, and rail on him for his current beliefs and attitudes.

Since real estate is a passion of mine I will say this regarding Boomers. Y'all had an opportunity to purchase homes at relatively cheap prices. And now that you've enjoyed massive appreciation there is a strong NIMBY strain to prevent new development and allow the next generation(s) the same opportunity. To me that is the ultimate F You I've got mine attitude. (And to be clear, NIMBYism is by no means exclusive to Boomers. But you guys excel at it)

Meh,I just think every next generation gets old and wooden in their thinking. Gen X will be the next curmudgeons afraid of a changing world,
and the next identified by the young turks as the cause of all ills. As far as I can tell we are still doing the ecological and fiscal failed policies
boomers did. Not until we've reversed much of that and seen a better outcome, then I will level wholesale blame on any particular age group.

Not letting them off the hook, just spreading the blame around a bit more. Boomers are now decrepit and unmealeable, to be sure, but they contain a goodly
sum of old school liberals also. (think 60sflower power war oppo, anti Nixon, pro environments ERA etc )
