Official VP Debate Thread

I Was flipping back and forth between the football game. There were times that Ryan seemed overwhelmed, but overall did well. Biden came off as a jerk and not Grandpa Joe as they like to pass him off as.

I am sure the left will love Bidens performance and spin like hell, it will the not so engaged voters be turned off by his smirks and interruptions. There were times when he seems to be attacking the moderator.

All in all I would say the debate was a draw.

My expectations for Biden were rather low....and I wasn't disappointed.....
I expected to grade him a D but I'll be generous and give him a D+

I'd say that was pretty even with a slight edge to Ryan. However, Biden needed a knockout and just looked like he was desperate to get everything they stuffed into his head out all at once. The constant interruptions looked unprofessional and actually made him seem weaker rather than "aggressive".

However, a democrat may see it as better than Obama and become slightly more encouraged so you have to give him some points.

The moderator did better later helping Biden quiet down and look a little better, but too little too late. Ryan's closing made it lean more to his side. Way better than Biden's, at least according to those watching (the little line below the screen)...

That's my summation, basically. Slight Ryan win when all he really needed to do is keep it even.
Why did Biden need a knockout?

Oh, poor boys, don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot! Waaaaa!

Ryan got schooled. Biden takes the debate.

rana my guess is you didn't actually watch the first presidential debate if you think romney and biden acted similarly.

jarod your bias is showing through. I've been reading some liberal blogs and flipping back on channels, some people are given biden the edge but it certainly isn't a run away victory.

Why did Biden need a knockout?

In order to come back from Obama's poor performance he needed a knockout, and he is better positioned to do it. The President shouldn't look that childish, it will really not play well for him. What Biden may get away with, as often the VP is the "bulldog" and expected to attack, Obama won't be able to.

Seriously, with Obama's low approval ratings and so many undecided all Romney really needs to do is make it so people can actually picture him doing the job... He did that well in the first debate. Obama and Biden now have the far more difficult job of making their opponent appear like something that you should "run from" (Obama quote and one from the debate).

jarod, "admitting" romney won means absolutely nothing. everyone and their grandma knew romney won the first debate

I see it as a total Ryan win in style, presentation and substance, and Biden not only lost, but humiliated himself by not showing the civility of a well-trained baboon. His demeanor the entire debate was behavior unbecoming any public official, in my opinion. His constant disrespectful smirking and interrupting were annoying and arrogant, and he came across as a complete asshole jerk. Now maybe condescending asshole jerks appeal to the independent voters? I don't know... I do know that mainstream America is generally not turned on by such. So if it's possible for Biden to have hurt his campaign more than he did tonight, I don't know how... but of course, this IS Joe Biden, I am sure it was possible for him to have been a bigger embarrassment, and if that is the standard we go by, he didn't completely fail, he never put his underwear on his head or start singing Yankee Doodle... so there's that.

shocker

I think the moderator was just frightened by the thought of a fanatical leftist lynchmob coming after her with pitchforks, candles, rope, and cutting tools...
