**Offical Olympic Medal Count thread**

I'd rather watch fencing than soccer... But, unlike teachers, I am at work now and have to watch the taped crap that NBC spews at night.

Sorry Damo. I watch the taped stuff with my wife in the evenings when she gets home from work...like last night i worked hard at not telling her that our girls won the gold. :)

I have to say that I really enjoy babysitting, house keeping duties during the summer.

Well, that's fine. They don't show fencing... I remember watching it when I was a kid and how boring it was. NBC is doing an atrocious job at this. They suck at "news" and they truly suck at the Olympics. I hope they never get the contract again.
Good Lord Damo. NBC has been doing a horrible job at it for a long, long time. They have a distinct gender bias in showing venues that are popular with women viewers, mainly the subjective "judged" sports, and when they aren't pounding sand up your ass with some lame human interest story or politics or trying to create controversies where none exist they actually get around to showing you a couple of minutes of a particular sport....on tape delay.

Having said that, you can watch many venues live via your computer through your cable or satellite provider. I was able to watch the entire mens cycling road race that way.

That's very cool. My co-worker is into racing of all sorts: cycling, hydro, running, motor cross, dirt bike, etc. No NASCAR, though.

It's mostly boring for me to watch, but that's mostly because I have no interest in the sport. I can sit down and watch bowling, golf, and tennis, for example. :cof1:

Don't mind Damo. He's just jealous.

Oh any sport is more interesting if you participate in it. I enjoy cycling not only as a sport but as one of the best ways there is to get fit. There's no other form of exercise I can think of in which a person can put out the sustained amount of work (measured in watts) for the length of time that you can in cycling. It's fun too. :)

I'd love to see more shooting events. The original Olympics were contests of martial skill, and I'd like to see a return to that. At least make the air rifles real firearms events.

"We had a dinner date at McDonald's," Berens joked Wednesday morning on "Today." "We put so much pressure on this meet. We sacrifice so much for the Olympic Games. We eat so healthily and we try to do everything right. It's our time to relax. That McDonald's in the dining hall was just calling our names."

It must have been shouting their names on the loudspeaker. When Berens got to the world's biggest McDonald's in the Olympic Village, he didn't mess around. He tweeted a photo of his post-Olympic conquest:

Damn, I don't think I could eat all that in one sitting.

I could. I've been riding a lot lately. Actually all three of those sandwhiches wouldn't make one Thurman Burger.

I once ate an entire Thurman Burger, a dozen wings (the whole wings mind you) an order of fries and a pitcher of beer.

Unfortunately I could eat all that as well. But I am not in any kind of shape...just like to eat. I deny myself that guilty
pleasure of fast food though.

That's one of the nice things about riding my bike. About once I month I can have a complete pig out and not feel bad about it. :)
