**Offical Olympic Medal Count thread**

1) You have followed OUR lead to be better, along with the rest of the Western world.
2) You lot basically gave up hard fights when you abandoned Greece after WWII, and left the matter on our doorstep.

This is either a trolling post or a demonstration of an ignorance so great as to be unbelievable.

Yes, what a lead! Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Laos, Chile, Nicaragua, Somalia, Lebanon and Palestine, to name a few. The US also acted as an enabler for Hitler, so thanks for that as well!

Completely forgot that Chamberlain was PM of the USA!

Good point about our misadventures throughout the world, though...

No, it is not about per capita, nor is it about who wins most medals. It is about the Olympic Spirit that, because of London 2012, is probably better understood now than ever before.
Children can count medals. Adults can see how man has been improved even for a fleeting moment.

that is typically what those who don't come in first say. ;)

And that is evidence to show that you're immature.

You yanks find it very difficult to understand decent behaviour, don't you. Childish, poorly educated, willfully ignorant and, for all your medals, losers.

When a Brit sees a yank the first thing he does is stand with his back against the wall.

Whilst the USA and Russia were making money and friends with Hitler, the Commonwealth countries fought alone in North Africa, the Middle East, Abyssinia, Scandinavia, and across the oceans of the world. Between 1939 and 1941 the UK, with the full effort, support and sacrifice of the Commonwealth, fought alone against Hitler and Mussolini, bribed Franco to stay out of the war, and died for liberty.

The USA took money from both sides, enjoyed the profits of slave labour and stolen companies in Germany and helped arm Japan. If Japan hadn't bombed Pearl Harbour, and Hitler hadn't declared war on the USA, they would still be counting their ill gotten gains. In terms of goods and materiel, the USA gave nothing. It was all bought and paid for, the debt was only paid off a few years ago. In terms of sacrifice, nobody can take away the heroism of US troops. However the role of the USA is a murky one which few choose to delve into, for fear of what they might find.

Actually the Brits and the French told the Czechs to bend over and fuck themselves, then when they heard about the Jews being slaughtered, instead of offering them a safe haven, they said "tough beans old chap. Pip pip and all that." Of course it's fair to say that Roosevelt had the same opinion of the Jews and others. But then again Roosevelt was a tyrant, so that's to be expected.

Gee; that was sure a nice example of "decent behavior". :palm:

You are right about the Sudetenland but I'm not sure what Chamberlain could have done? He is always compared unfavourably to Churchill and it's true that he was naive about Hitler. However he did sanction the building of fighters like the Spitfire and Hurricane where Churchill was a bomber man. Britain did take in many Jews from Germany maybe they should have taken more, I wonder what the world would have been like if we hadn't given Einstein sanctuary? Would the Manhattan project have got off the ground?
