Occupiers Hit Stumbling Block in War on Capitalism

I love to eat squirrels. They are my favorite wild game. I have a dog who trees them. My dog barks up the tree at the squirrel (found by sight or smell) and I walk to the tree and shoot the squirrel out. Female squirrels are better to eat than male squirrels. Do you know how to tell if a squirrel is male or female when the dog trees it?

I don't claim to be a Christian. The sub prime crisis was caused by Dodd-Frank who are both Democrats. It doesn't have anything to do with the protest going on in NYC and elsewhere. And I am only pissing myself from laughing so hard at these protesters.

Do explain how Dodd-Frank caused it.... thanks

Are you trying to help me out Leaning, by telling a "joke"? That is so sweet of you!

I notice that all of the time. Some of them here on the board seem like the kind that laugh at people falling down the stairs & stuff like that.

I admit.... I absolutely laugh at people who fall down the stairs.... after I make sure they are not seriously hurt.... minor injuries... no worries... laugh away... serious injuries, wait until the ambulance takes them away.... THEN start laughing. It is a matter of common courtesy.

If it has nuts?

Yeah, you weren't any funnier during the Bush years.

You guys just aren't funny people. I'm very funny. Witty, as they say. I wouldn't want to live a humorless life. I wonder if there's a connection between that and the way you guys hate everyone? I think there might be.

I agree. You're Algonquin round table funny!

Of course Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers had fuck all to do with it. :palm:

Just how good is Goldman Sachs for the world economy?

Rather than let the public restrict its ability to make money for itself, Goldman Sachs significantly set about paying the money back early this year.
This flouted the principle of 'moral hazard' under which bankers and businesses are expected to pay the price for their mistakes. If the government is always there to pick up the pieces when things go wrong, then the bankers can gamble with impunity knowing they will not suffer the consequence of their mistakes.
Freed from government obligations, the sharks could start looking for more prey. The profit opportunities left by the credit crisis were too good to miss. With its rivals almost all eliminated, any big corporation looking for financial services had virtually no where else to turn but to Goldmans Sachs.
Huge profits were made from this advice, from mergers and takeovers, and from trading in foreign exchange and commodities such as oil, where Goldman Sachs has been among the principle speculators.
The paradox is that Goldman Sachs had come as close to destruction as at any time in its long history. Indeed, the boast from its chairman, Lloyd Blankfein, to me (at a briefing session for London-based writers) that the firm had enough liquidity to withstand almost anything, turned out to be poppycock.
Even now, Goldman Sachs could not be operating at its current velocity without the help of the trillions of dollars being flushed through the financial system by central banks including the Federal Reserve and the Bank of England.
Because of its friends in the highest places of global finance, no one even dares question the notion that what is good for Goldman Sachs is good for the global economy.
That, I suspect, is a precept that is going to be increasingly challenged.

Do you use Macs? Because it seems you would be supporting the machine if you pay any more than necessary for a computer than you have to. Considering Mac’s typically cost 2-3 times what an equivalent PC does. Just asking.

You know this website was created and supported by an anarchist group right? Also, for keeping everything local – interesting that the site is hosted out of Iceland oh and the domain name is a small island off of Australia. Who are you supporting? Where are donations going?

Hello,
As someone undecided about supporting this movement, I’ve got a couple of questions hopefully someone (actually at the protests) can answer for me, they hopefully can help me form a more educated opinion.

Is the movement committed to ending capitalism?

Are labor unions a part of this movement?

Is the movement seeking the aid of politicians?

I know many people that have similar questions, so are still sitting on the sidelines.

Many folks are turned off by the prospect of this movement accepting anything from labor unions. Many of us see labor unions as no different than corrupt big business and corrupt politicians.

If politicians join the Occupy, I (and a significant portion of the population) will stop believing this movement is an honest endeavor. Same goes for university professors, as it will be perceived that they’re manipulating young adults and you’ll lose credibility.

Hopefully you’re doing serious planning about how to handle the cold weather that will soon becoming. It would be truly pitiful to see all your work go down the drain due to weather. Take the weather very seriously.

Kevin, don’t be so uptight!

I’m right here in the middle of the protest!

It’s awesome — you gotta get with it!

But what’s with all the questions, dude?

We need to work on the spelling and grammar on the minutes rundown because I just can’t read that and take it seriously. Picky I know but come on if you want to be recognized as legitimate then I think it would be a good thing to work on.

In other words, ditzie wanted to listen to Rush, but is making excuses as to why every other station was dark where he was at, so that he can justify listening to that idiot.

It is what I thought, too, reminds me of the man who accidentally stumbled into the whore house...

LMFAO.. nope, I just wanted to open with an explanation as to how I was inspired to post the thread. I don't usually listen to Rush, not that I don't like Rush, I just get tired of hearing him after a while, and need a break... same with Hannity, O'Reilly, Boortz and others I listen to. I don't know, maybe pinheads never get tired of Jon Stewart and have to go listen to Alan Colmes for a while?

Rush is an idiot? Really? You believe that, SF? Uhm.. he's marginally more successful than you'll ever be, the pioneer of something greater than you'll ever accomplish, and has more millions of admirers and fans than you will ever realize throughout your entire lifetime. He has a string of record-setting books he has written, every one goes to #1 instantly, and breaks his previous record. He has a room full of trophies and awards from about every broadcast and media recognition group out there.... but SF thinks he is "an idiot" ...so he must be, right?

Listen to Alan Combs instead of Stewart, you have finally gone off the deep end. No self respecting liberal listens to Alan Combs! He is spineless. I am insulted for John Stewart!

So put me on ignore if you don't like my poop! I do you, when I want to increase my IQ after being dumbed down by reading your posts.

Nah, you're not important enough to ignore. I can see how my posts are over your head and confuse you, it's better you stick to reading Onzies and Jarhead, something you can comprehend... maybe one day you can graduate to reading Superfreak and Yurt? But my profound brilliance is probably always going to be too much for you.

It is my experience that people who toot their own horns the way you do are usually blow hards. Are you trying to convince me or yourself?
