Police hunt for son 'who covered his dad, 64, in gasoline and set him on fire at their Florida home'
Florida police are looking for a man they say tried to kill his father by dousing him in gasoline and setting him on fire inside their home. Detective Fernando Morales of the Homestead Police Department said that Tabias Rollins, 38, got into a domestic dispute with his 64-year-old father.
Rollins then doused his father, who has not been named, with gasoline before setting him on fire, according to the detective.
Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to a house fire call at a home in Homestead, about 35 miles south of Miami, on Saturday morning, Local 10 reported.
'During the argument, Rollins decided to douse his father with gasoline and light him on fire,' said Detective Morales. 'Fire [department] was able to get here on time, extinguish the fire and airlift the father to Kendall Regional Medical Center.' It is not clear what the argument was about.
The victim's daughter, Canitra Rollins, said her mother was home during the incident, CBS4 reported. 'My mom was beside him and my dad was wide awake,' Canitra Rollins said.
'My dad dared him he won't pour the gas. He poured the gasoline on him and tried to light him on fire.' The flames rapidly engulfed the home, causing substantial damage. Police have said the house is a total loss.
When police arrived at the scene, Rollins had already fled in a white 2000 Cadillac DeVille with a black top.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted his father to a local hospital where he is in critical condition with burns to most of his body.

TAMPA — Loretta Jackson was killed over $30.
That's how much Jonathan David Kendrick got away with after Tampa police said he broke into the 78-year-old woman's home over the weekend, then viciously beat her to death.
Kendrick, 24, was arrested Tuesday on charges that included first-degree murder, armed burglary with battery, armed robbery and dealing in stolen property, according to Tampa police.
"Knowing now that he's picked up, that's like 20 million pounds of relief," said Jackson's son, James Dixon, 60. "But I still got a long road to go." Jackson lived alone in the white house at 1808 E Osborne Ave., though her son said sometimes he stayed with her and checked on her every day.
Tampa police detailed how she lost her life sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning: After he was read his rights, police said Kendrick told them that he robbed Jackson because she was an "easy lick" — street slang for an easy target. He kicked in the back door of her home, police said, and was then confronted by Jackson.
"Why are you in my house?" Jackson said.
Kendrick demanded money. Jackson started to scream, police said, and then Kendrick attacked her. He punched the woman until she fell, police said. When the 78-year-old tried to get back up, police said Kendrick grabbed a vacuum cleaner and started to beat her with it.
Then police said Kendrick told them he put a pillow over Jackson's face to stop her screams. When he checked her pulse, police said Kendrick told them, she had none.
Kendrick took Jackson's EBT card, her driver's license, her cell phone and $20, according to police. Investigators tracked Kendrick to Aliana's Meat Market at 4016 N 22nd St. Surveillance video showed him walking into the store at 8:29 a.m., police said, which is about a 15 minute walk from Jackson's house.
The video showed Kendrick taking her EBT card out, police said, and Jackson's driver's license could be seen in his wallet. Kendrick sold the EBT card to someone standing in line at the store for $10, police said. He also returned to the scene of the crime hours later to retrieve a bag he had left inside the house, police said.
Jackson's son discovered his mother's body around 3:45 p.m. Saturday. The roofing contractor hadn't heard from her all day. He found a busted door frame with the door forced close. "Momma, momma," he yelled as he pushed his way in. "I looked down, I tripped over her," Dixon said. "She was laying on the floor."
The house his mother had lived in for 20 years was ransacked. He yelled to a roofing worker he had with him to call 911. Tampa police said that forensic evidence linked Kendrick to Jackson's murder. He was arrested after 10 a.m. Tuesday on an unrelated battery charge.
Police said Kendrick broke free from officers and tried to run. An officer shocked Kendrick with a Taser, police said, causing him to fall and hit his head. He received four stitches at a local hospital, then was taken to the county jail.
Kendrick, who also faces charges of giving a false name to an officer, escape from confinement and resisting an officer without violence, was being held without bail in the Hillsborough County jail.
Dixon was standing in his mother's driveway Tuesday evening when he got a call from a friend. Dixon had been fielding calls about his mother all day. MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A woman and child were raped and beaten after masked gunmen invaded their Minneapolis home.
Police say Reggie Bishop, Roynell Taylor and Deondre Bishop broke into a Minneapolis home on Bryant Avenue North late at night on July 19. “They broke into this house, vandalized and stole things, but worse: They raped both the young woman, the daughter, and her mother,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said.
Police say the three armed men tied the mother and the 14-year-old girl up and put pillow cases over their heads. They demanded money and threatened to burn them with hot water.
One of the men then raped the daughter, telling her “it will all stop if you tell me where the money is,” a criminal complaint states. The mother was brought upstairs separately and also raped before being brought back by her daughter and beaten. After an hour and a half, the suspects left and the woman called police.
The three suspects have extensive criminal histories. Deondre Bishop was sent to prison on other unrelated charges, but Reggie Bishop and Taylor are still at large.
“When we find them, and if we prove the allegations in the complaint, which we believe we will, we will send them [away] for a very long time,” Freeman said.

Cortez Fields, 18, was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated battery causing bodily harm in the death of Nicole Hewitt, according to a Broward County Sheriff's Office report released Wednesday.
Fields appeared in court Wednesday where her bond was set at $7,500. It was unknown if she's hired an attorney.
According to the report, Fields went to Hewitt's home in the 300 block of Northwest 6th Street on Saturday night to retrieve a pair of shoes she had let Hewitt borrow. Fields told police that Hewitt confronted her in a stairwell and asked her to leave, then pointed a finger in her face and yelled at her, the report said.
Fields said she became angry and punched Hewitt in the face, causing Hewitt to fall and hit the back of her head on the concrete stairwell, according to the report. Fields said Hewitt got up and grabbed her neck, but Fields pushed Hewitt into the stairwell and held her down, the report said.
While Hewitt was down, Fields punched her in the side of the head, and saw swelling and bumps on Hewitt's face, Fields told police in the report. Fields said she fled the scene while Hewitt chased her.
Hewitt's uncle visited her the next morning and found Hewitt with a swollen face, according to the report. Hewitt refused medical treatment at the time, but when the uncle returned that evening, he found her lying in bed with severe swelling, the report said.
Hewitt's uncle flagged down fire rescue workers, who found Hewitt unresponsive and took her to North Broward Medical Center. She was found to have blunt force trauma to her face and head, the report said. Hewitt died at the hospital later that night.
Detectives found Fields at her home and she agreed to an interview. During the interview she said, "I never killed anyone before," the report said. Fields faces a number of charges in juvenile court including aggravated battery, burglary, and grand theft, jail records showed.

Target Cashiers Accused of Stealing Thousands of Dollars from State Street Store
One Target employee is accused of stealing cash from the register and two others allegedly loaded thousands of dollars onto several gift cards
Three Target employees are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the company's State Street store, the Cook County State's Attorney's office said Wednesday.
Teanna Lewis, Latina Taylor and Brezhelle Watts were each charged with one count of felony retail theft and are accused of stealing at least $18,000 from the store, prosecutors said.
Lewis worked as a cashier at the Loop store and officials allege she stuffed more than $4,000 dollars in cash into her pockets. The 21-year-old allegedly took the money over the course more than five weeks, DNA Info reported.
Prosecutors say two more Target employees also stole thousands of dollars through gift cards.
Taylor, 20, is accused of ringing up more than $6,000 in gift cards in seven different transactions, the state's attorney's office said. She allegedly swiped the gifts cards and used the “cash payment” entry on the register although no payments were made.
Watts also faces charges after she allegedly loaded nine gifts cards with $900 each, prosecutors said. Watts, also 20, then gave the cards to an accomplice, DNA Info reported.
The thefts were reportedly captured through surveillance cameras.

Woman 'stabs pregnant woman to death, cuts baby out of the victim's womb and attempts to pass the child off as her own' - but the newborn SURVIVES

A deranged woman slit a heavily pregnant mother's throat and cut her unborn baby out of her womb in a sick attempt to pass the child off as her own, police say. Ashley Wade, 22, allegedly killed Angelikque Sutton and performed a makeshift Cesarean section on her at Wade's apartment in the Bronx, New York.
Wade is then said to have ripped the baby girl from her dead or dying mother's stomach and was found cradling the newborn child - who survived - by her boyfriend.
It is believed that the mentally disturbed woman was trying to snatch Ms Sutton's baby because she had been telling neighbors she was pregnant. Wade's boyfriend called the police after walking in on his maniacal partner holding the baby next to the body of Ms Sutton, 22, the New York Post reported.
'It looks like the baby was surgically removed,' Bronx councilman Andy King said. 'That this is a possible baby snatch - this is unforeseeable. With the holidays approaching, what a bloody way to start the season.'
The New York Times reported that the baby was found on the hood of the car outside of the property by paramedics. Police entered the home and found blood smeared over staircases and doorways leading to the body of the mother. A placenta and knife were found in a hallway next to a bathroom.
Ms Sutton and her child were taken to Montefiore Hospital, where the mother was pronounced dead.

Ashley Wade, 22, allegedly killed Angelikque Sutton and performed a makeshift Cesarean section on her at Wade's apartment in the Bronx, New York.
Wade is then said to have ripped the baby girl from her dead or dying mother's stomach and was found cradling the newborn child - who survived - by her boyfriend.
It is believed that the mentally disturbed woman was trying to snatch Ms Sutton's baby because she had been telling neighbors she was pregnant. Wade's boyfriend called the police after walking in on his maniacal partner holding the baby next to the body of Ms Sutton, 22, the New York Post reported.
'It looks like the baby was surgically removed,' Bronx councilman Andy King said. 'That this is a possible baby snatch - this is unforeseeable. With the holidays approaching, what a bloody way to start the season.'
The New York Times reported that the baby was found on the hood of the car outside of the property by paramedics. Police entered the home and found blood smeared over staircases and doorways leading to the body of the mother. A placenta and knife were found in a hallway next to a bathroom.
Ms Sutton and her child were taken to Montefiore Hospital, where the mother was pronounced dead.

California police have identified an alleged cell phone thief after photos of the suspect emerged on the 15-year-old victim's iCloud.
Police are on the hunt for Tasja Dowell, 18, of Richmond after police shared the selfies taken on the victim's phone and asked for the public's help in identifying the suspect.
Fox reports that the phone's owner, a 15-year-old student at El Cerrito High School, reported being violently mugged as she walked down the street on November 5.

Fox reports that the teenager was hospitalized for her injuries. When the teenager was well enough to go online she saw several selfies on her iCloud account and recognized the woman in them as her attacker. She handed in the photos to police who are now searching for Dowell.
Police say that no one should confront Dowell but that anyone with information about her should call 510-215-4400.

A suspect is in custody, charged with murder, after two women were fatally shot in separate incidents in north Jackson and Ridgeland Thursday night.
Police say 22-year-old Zehulum Lael James, who was arrested at a south Jackson apartment complex on Rainey Road not long after the shootings, also shot at a JATRAN bus, another vehicle and into an occupied dwelling.
Hinds Co. Coroner Sharon Grisham Stewart confirmed that Suzanne Hogan, 58, was killed after being shot in the head in the parking lot of a Shell station at the corner of Watkins Drive and Beasley Road, said Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green.
The other victim, Kristy Lynn Mitchell, 49, of Missouri, was shot as she walked from the Drury Inn to Logan's Roadhouse restaurant in Ridgeland, said Ridgeland Police Chief John Neal. The victim, shot in the abdomen, was transported to a hospital where she later died.
As the suspect fled the scene in Ridgeland, he hit a man in the parking lot outside the Drury Inn with his vehicle, authorities said. The man was not critically injured.
Friday, Ridgeland police charged James with Mitchell's murder. Ridgeland also charged him with aggravated assault. Police said the suspect, described by witnesses at separate scenes as driving a blue Ford Mustang, also shot at a JATRAN bus, then into an occupied dwelling on Watkins Drive, then at another vehicle as he fled on Watkins Drive near Hanging Moss Road. No one was injured. James' vehicle has been taken to the crime lab for processing.
Authorities said there did not appear to be any connection between the victims, except that they were both white females in parking lots.
