Phoenix mom, stepdad accused of beating boy, 7, with metal pipe

A Phoenix mother and stepfather have been arrested for allegedly striking her 7-year-old son with a metal pipe for eating chips at daycare, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded late Tuesday morning to a report of a boy with severe injuries to his back and called the Phoenix Police Department. Responders found the boy with extreme swelling, bleeding, missing skin and bruising on his buttocks, lower back, hands and legs, according to the police report.

On March 7, a boy at the victim's daycare was eating a bag of Funyons and offered the 7-year-old the chips. When the 7-year-old boy was finished eating, he put the bag in his pocket. When the boy and his mother got home, she allegedly told him to tell his stepfather, whom he refers to as 'dad', what happened at school, according to the police report. The boy said his mother became upset and began striking him with a large metal pipe. The boy's stepfather also allegedly hit him several times with the pipe and told him to put ice his buttocks. When the boy stopped ice, the stepfather, Jay Philip Cason struck him again.

The mother, Franchesca Lourdes Ann Castro claimed she was sleeping at the time at the time of the incident and denied seeing any marks on her son.

Cason told police he was upset and made the victim run laps in their backyard and struck the boy but he claimed he didn't know what object was used because he "blacked out," the police report states.

Castro and Cason were each arrested on one count of felony child abuse. According to the police report, the family has "multiple cases with CPS."

[h=1]Three teen girls charged as adults in Philly brick attack[/h]
brickattackgirls.jpg

Kanesha Gainey, 15; Najee Bilaal, 16; and Zaria Estes, 15, were charged as adults with aggravated assault, conspiracy and other offenses in last Friday's attacks in Philadelphia.

PHILADELPHIA - Three teenage girls arrested for allegedly assaulting Temple students with a brick last Friday have been charged as adults, reports CBS Philly.

According to the station, the District Attorney's office has charged the girls - Najee Bilaal, 16, and 15-year-olds Kanesha Gainey and Zaria Estes - with aggravated assault, conspiracy and other offenses. The suspects are facing adult charges because of the violent nature of the crime, said a spokeswoman for the D.A.

These are the first reported charges since police said they had five juveniles in custody on Tuesday.

Capt. Frank Banford said investigators think the attacking girls formed an impromptu mob to carry out the crimes. He says they came together about 6 p.m. Friday evening via public transit, and in the span of 20 minutes attacked three students, then took off on a bus. Police said that locating surveillance video from near where the attacks occurred was the key to finding the suspects. "They saw themselves on video," Banford says. "Some actually walked into the Ninth District (police station).

Some, we were notified by their schools, who recognized them. Officers knocked on doors along 17th Street in Philadelphia in the days after the attack, eventually finding a witness who told them the girls had invited her to join their "flash mob," reports CBS Philly.

Bail was set at $75,000 for one of the suspects and $100,000 for the other two girls. All are due back in court April 10. A defense attorney for the suspects has not been listed, according to the station.

We need to investigate what the Temple Students did, to provoke these children to defend themselves.
We also need to look into what societal inequalities contributed to these young ladies to react in such a manner; because only until we address these differences can we honestly assess the underlying reasons that resulted in these children feeling so oppressed that this was the only way they could express their feelings of inadequacy. :barf:

Ohio sisters attacked, stripped, humiliated in Facebook video

The victims were beat to a pulp by a group of women at a Cincinnati housing project Sunday morning. Video posted online shows several women attacking the sisters as well as witnesses who were recording the attack.

A night at the club led to a vicious attack at a Cincinnati housing project where two sisters were stripped of their clothes while bystanders recorded the assault and did nothing. The victims, 20 and 21, woke up Sunday morning to a group of women beating them and dragging them out of an apartment at Winton Terrace.

The video of the assault shows the sisters being restrained on the ground as six to eight women kick, punch and stomp on them before stealing their purses.

There were at least three witnesses recording the incident. "I seen a glimpse of people, but after that - when I was knocked out - I didn't remember nothing," one of the victims told WCPO-TV. "I didn't remember people. Just voices."

The youngest victim told WLWT-TV: "They didn't care if they killed us." The two are still recovering from cuts and bruises.

The sisters were spending the night at the apartment of 25-year-old Kianna McMeans, one of the suspects arrested by Cincinnati Police for aggravated robbery, after going to a club Saturday night. McMeans invited the attackers into her apartment the next morning because she had been assaulted at the club and the sisters did not help her, the victims alleged. The stolen purses were later found in McMeans' car.

The attack footage was shared on Facebook and one of the victims saw it every time she checked her news feed, she said.

The video shows the victims on the ground and being "basically humiliated out there and beat to a pulp," Detective Tracy Jones told WLWT-TV. "I thought I was going to die right there on the ground," the oldest victim said.

On Thursday, there was still ripped clothing on the ground where the attack happened, the television station reported. Police were able to identify another suspect, Jakeda Phillips, 25, because she looked directly at the camera during the attack, and issued a warrant for her arrest.

[h=1]New Orleans car wash killing[/h]
An ongoing dispute escalated to the point of gun violence on Tuesday (April 1), claiming the life of a 21-year-old man who was halfway through his shift at a busy eastern New Orleans car wash when he was killed, police and witnesses said.

Dion Johnson had just begun washing a customer's car at the Untouchable car wash on Chef Menteur Boulevard when a heated argument between him and a family member spiraled out of control, Johnson's relatives said. He was shot multiple times at about 1:25 p.m. and died at the scene on the 7200 block of Chef Menteur Highway, police said.

The shooting took place in the midst of lunch hour along a busy thoroughfare, as car wash customers watched. Soon after, more than 50 people - many screaming and crying - rushed to the car wash parking lot where Johnson lay on the ground. As police investigated, Johnson's 3-year-old daughter, wearing a pink skirt and matching ribbons in her hair, looked on the chaos.

A woman, inconsolable with grief, punched and kicked an Orleans Parish coroner's van as it drove away from the scene.

A woman who was at the car wash and witnessed the shooting said that Johnson was in the process of washing her car when he began arguing with a man who was in the car behind him. The woman, who lives in the area, did not wish to give her name. "I heard them arguing, at first I thought they were just joking, but then I saw him (the shooter) flash a gun under his shirt. "(Johnson) said something like, 'I'll fight you with my hands, but I'm not gonna fight you with that gun,'" the woman said. She said shortly thereafter Johnson picked up a chair and threw it at the gunman.

Then Johnson "started cursing and yelling at him," she recalled. "I was thinking: be quiet, please just be quiet," she said. "Before I could close my eyes, the guy started shooting at him and ran. I heard (Johnson) say, 'he got me,'" she recalled.

Several friends and relatives of Johnson who rushed to the scene said another family member was responsible, and that the bloody mid-day altercation was the result of a dispute that had erupted days earlier.

Police did not confirm whether the man's assailant was a family member, nor did they release any information concerning suspects in the shooting. No arrests have been made and the investigation is still in the preliminary stages, NOPD spokesman Garry Flot said Tuesday.

"It was all over a girl, something so stupid," said Arreyel Miguel, Johnson's sister-in law. Miguel said the argument between the two men began last Sunday, and had carried on until their fatal scuffle Tuesday afternoon.

4 Woodstock High students charged in sex assault posted on social media

Police said four Woodstock High School students face criminal charges related to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl--an act that authorities said was filmed and posted on a social media website.

Two 18-year-old high school students and two juveniles were arrested at the school on April 8, police said. The 18-year-olds – Corion V. Simpson and James Cornelius – are in custody at the McHenry County Jail, and bond for each was set at $80,000, officials said. Simpson is charged with criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and intimidation; Cornelius is charged with criminal sexual assault, authorities said.

The two other students are being petitioned to juvenile court, one on charges of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse. The other is charged with unlawful possession of child pornography, police said.

The two juveniles were processed at the Woodstock Police Department and released to their parents, said Deputy Police Chief John Lieb.

The alleged assault took place during a party between Christmas and New Year’s Eve at a Woodstock residence where alcohol was being served, police and prosecutors said. Authorities allege the girl was sexually assaulted by the two 18-year-olds and one of the juveniles, who was 17. Authorities said the act was videotaped and posted on an unnamed social media website. The video was apparently later taken down, but authorities allege that Simpson contacted the girl and threatened to repost the video of her having sex with the boys if she didn’t come and “visit” with him again, Lieb said.

According to Woodstock police reports, the father of the alleged victim became aware of the video and contacted authorities on Feb. 27.

At a bond hearing Monday in McHenry County court, Simpson sought to have his bond lowered from $80,000 to $15,000, but Judge Sharon Prather denied the request, Assistant State’s Attorney Sharyl Eisenstein said. At the hearing, Simpson said he is a student and a football player at Woodstock High, the prosecutor said. Cornelius appeared in court this morning and asked for a judge reassignment.

Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 spokeswoman Carol Smith confirmed all four males are Woodstock High students but could not say whether the two 17-year-old students are back in school. “We are aware of the charges and can’t comment on matters concerning specific students,” Smith said. “We are working with the Woodstock Police Department to make sure they have all the information they need.”

[h=1]Two charged for shooting death of Indianapolis delivery driver[/h]

Peter Hutchings, 25, and Terri Williams, 17, are charged with murdering a food delivery driver in Indianapolis, Ind. onNov. 3, 2015.

CBS affiliate WTTV

I
NDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two suspects have been charged with murdering an Indianapolis delivery driver, CBS affiliate WTTV reports.

According to court documents, Peter Hutchings, 25, and Terri Williams, 17, placed an order for Chinese food on the night of Nov. 3.

When delivery driver Mark Miller showed up at the apartment complex with the food, he got into an argument with Hutchings, according to the station. A witness said they saw Miller get into his truck and accelerate in reverse. That's when Hutchings reportedly shot him.

Investigators tracked down Hutchings and Williams using the address and phone number information from the Chinese food order, according to the station. But they gave very different accounts of events leading up to the incident.

Williams admitted that Hutchings told her to call in the order for delivery, but she denied she knew it was a robbery attempt.

She told police Hutchings approached Miller while he was in his truck and demanded money. But when Hutchings walked behind the truck it backed up and began dragging him, which is when Hutchings shot Miller.

But Hutchings told police the truck never touched him.

After the shooting, the pair allegedly went to Hutchings' father's apartment nearby. Williams told police she hid the gun in the fridge, which is where they found it.

The station reported that when questioned, Hutchings denied being the shooter and changed his story several times.

Hutchings was charged with two counts of murder, attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and carrying a handgun without a license, according to the station.

Williams was charged as an adult with murder, attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

8-year-old charged with murder of 1-year-old left alone while their moms went clubbing

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - An 8-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a 1-year-old girl who was left at a home without adult supervision while their mothers went clubbing on Sunday, Oct. 11, according to Birmingham police.

An adult, 26-year-old Katerra Lewis has also been charged with manslaughter in the case on a $15,000 bond. Police say she has posted bond from the Jefferson County Jail.

Police say Katerra Lewis went out clubbing with a friend and left her baby, 1-year-old Kelci Lewis, without any adult supervision at the home owned by her friend. In addition to the 1-year-old girl, several other children ranging from ages 8 to 2 were also left alone at the home in the 7100 block of 2nd Avenue South.

Police say the 8-year-old boy "viciously attacked" the 1-year-old little girl because she wouldn't stop crying. She ultimately died from severe head trauma and major internal organ damage, according to police.

Officers previously said Keterra Lewis claimed she found her baby unresponsive at the home.

Paramedics were called to the scene and took the baby girl to Children's of Alabama Hospital where she was pronounced dead. After being examined by the Jefferson County Coroner, her death was ruled a homicide, police announced the day after her death.

The coroner told police that she had bruises indicated she experienced some kind of trauma.

The 8-year-old charged with the baby's murder is in custody of DHR, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

Lt. Sean Edwards issued the following statement about the case on Tuesday afternoon:
"Detectives learned the one year old was left home alone without any adult supervision. Also, left at the home alone were several children ages ranging from 2 years old to 8 years old. Apparently, the mother of the one year old left the house going to the nightclub with her friend who is also the homeowner. It is believed while the mother and friend were at the club; the eight year old viciously attacked the one year old because the one year old would not stop crying. The one year old suffered from severe head trauma as well as major internal organ damage which ultimately lead to her death. This investigation is ongoing."

A vigil for the Kelci Lewis was held on Oct. 20. Family and friends lit candles and held balloons to remember a child who they said left an impression during her short life.

Her grandmother, Waynetta Callens, said Kelci Lewis had fought through so much to have her life taken away so soon. Callens said Kelci Lewis was born premature and spent six weeks on a heart monitor. She fought until she was healthy enough to survive. "She grew up to this little bitty precious angel and now this," Callens said. "It hurts."

"How happy she was," Callens recalled. "How she used to get up in the morning and just be running around the house. Right now, it's so hard. When my daughter would call me in the morning I'm so used to hearing my grand baby in the background."

One of two women caught on video groping and twerking on a man in a gas station in Northeast D.C. has been arrested in what police call an incident of sexual abuse, sources tell News4.

Video released by the Metropolitan Police Department on Monday shows a man waiting in a checkout line when a woman in front of him backs up against him and dances. When the man backs away, a second woman follows him and appears to grope him several times.

The women shown wearing revealing dresses "used force and grabbed groin and buttocks multiple times in a very aggressive manner without his permission and without his consent," a police report says.

[h=1]Kenyaita Davis Accused Of Torturing Her Two Children For Past Five Years[/h]

Kenyaita-Davis.jpg

AURORA, CO – Kenyaita Davis is behind bars today after her sister called police to report the horrific abuse Davis has been inflicting on her two children for years.

According to reports, Davis’ sister called DHS in August after Davis went out of town and left her two children, an 11-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, in her care. It was only then did the kids feel safe enough to tell their aunt that their mother had been torturing them for years.

After detectives interviewed the kids, they were immediately removed from their home and Kenyaita Davis was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of felony child abuse.

In a DHS report to the Denver Juvenile Court, these kids weren’t just abused; these kids were tortured. The children say they have been maced and beaten with a variety of objects, including shovels, brooms, rakes, and hammers.
The boy was burned with an steam iron, and the girl’s hand is still scarred from her mother gouging it with a power drill. The girl also has deep scarring to her forehead after being thrown into a fish aquarium. She was also thrown over a second story banister. When she regained consciousness, Davis allegedly told her that had she not woke up “she would have buried her in the back yard.”

What makes this so infuriating is the fact that the abuse could have been stopped long ago. Between 2005 and 2013, Denver Human Services and Arapahoe County Human Services did not investigate 13 separate complaints of domestic violence, neglect, and abuse involving the family.

The children’s schools have been reporting possible abuse since 2009. Their reports include the children coming to school smelling of marijuana, and several reports of cuts and bruising to their faces.

Twin brothers are facing theft charges after they stole identical items yesterday from a Walmart in South Carolina, cops allege.

Malik and Shamel Toppin, 17, were nabbed Wednesday night after a store secuurity officer spotted them each swiping two items from the health and beauty department.

When subsequently confronted by police, the Toppins each removed a container of facial cream and deodorant from the pockets of their shorts, according to a police report. The brothers were arrested for shoplifting, the second time in recent months that they were busted for retail theft.

Seen above, Malik (left) and Shamel were booked into jail on the misdemeanor charge. They were released from custody around 4:30 AM today.

[h=1]Eighth-Graders Stab Woman To Death At Car Wash & Then Prop Her Body Up While They Go For A Joyride[/h]

Two Missouri teenagers fatally stabbed a woman while she was vacuuming her car and then went on a gruesome joyride with her dead body propped up in the front seat, according to reports.

The two boys, 13 and 14, allegedly stabbed 43-year-old Tanya Chamberlain in the face, neck, chest and hands on Nov. 1 as she visited a local car wash and vacuumed her vehicle, according to documents obtained by KCTV5.

Surveillance video shows the eighth-graders exiting Quick Clean Car Wash wearing distinct hoodies that would later help police identify them as suspects.

The Nov. 1 time change for daylight saving time screwed up the nearby video footage, which shows the boys getting in the vehicle with Chamberlain in the front seat at around 1:57 a.m. — 40 minutes after Chamberlain is seen on camera vacuuming her car, according to the court documents.

A few minutes later the video boots back up and the car is gone, KCTV5 reported.

The documents state that the teens then took off in the vehicle with Chamberlain’s dead body propped up in the front seat with her feet on the dashboard.

Police pulled over the swerving vehicle about 20 minutes later for what seemed like intoxicated driving. The boys fled from the vehicle and police lost sight of both of them after a brief foot pursuit, KCTV5 reported.

Inside the car, cops found a blood-covered pocket knife, possibly wrapped in Chamberlain’s hair, in the backseat, the documents state. “I just want to know why. What would make you want to do something like that to a defenseless lady,” Chamberlain’s friend Jeremiah Persinger told KCTV5.

After police released the surveillance footage, neighbors and parents of classmates were able to identify the boys as students at Bernard C. Campbell Middle School in Lee’s Summit, a suburb of Kansas City.

The students showed up for school the day after Chamberlain’s death and a fellow classmate’s mother told police that her son said the boys wore the same sweatshirts to school that day. And another local mom said the boys came to her house in those same sweatshirts after the time of the murder, KMBC-TV reported.

“I thought it was very unfortunate. It’s kind of shocking how two eighth-graders could do something like that,” Scott Thomason, of Lee’s Summit, told KMBC-TV.

Warrants were obtained for the boys’ homes and lockers where clothing was taken matching up to that seen in the surveillance video, including the hoodies and a pair of black and white checkered sneakers, KMBC-TV reported.

The young teens made incriminating statements during police interviews that only someone involved in the crime would know, according to reports.

It has not been determined if the boys will be charged as adults or juveniles.

30 students suspended or expelled in HS brawl involving hundreds

HAWTHORNE, Calif. --
Hawthorne High School administrators focused on restoring peace and order Thursday in the wake of a violent brawl on Tuesday.

By the estimate of a Hawthorne Police Lieutenant about 200 to 300 students joined in multiple fights that just seemed to spread.

"I seen girls on girls, guys hitting girls," student Cameron Graham said.

Administrators are reviewing cell phone footage and much more. High definition images of the fights were caught on security cameras.

On Thursday, 30 students were identified, suspended and, in some cases, permanently expelled. Three others were arrested for felony assaults on officers, where one was kicked in the head.
