The republicans passed a repeal of Obamacare in both the house and the senate when Obama was still president. Now that they also have then executive branch under their control why aren't they pushing that repeal again? Why just alter a universal healthcare system to be a little less obama-ish?

I'm glad Cruz is part of this effort but I'm actually more impressed by Rand Paul's efforts right now.

One thing that really fascinates me about politics is just how different people can be on certain topics. While I agree with you about the Obamacare Lite label I actually stand with Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz about how there needs to be a full repeal before any possible replacement plan should take place. From what I've read and heard there's not much of a difference between what Trump is wanting to change and what existed. My hope is that actual conservatives in congress vote down this edited version and the pressure mounts on Trump to fully repeal obamacare. I know that Trump ran on a repeal and replace campaign promise and so I'm not so naive to believe that he would be conservative on this, but I hope that he doesn't just tweak Obamacare and call that "repeal and replace".

I'm for reducing the footprint of our federal government and limiting its power to what it's allowed to do under our constitution. Nothing more, nothing less.
