The Force is With Me
and normally, I would agree 100% with your reasoning. However, there are numerous mitigating circumstances that I have to deal with, namely a disabled wife who has numerous and extremely chronic health conditions such as HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), lower limb neuropathy, crohns, and systemic lupus. All of which cost a great deal of money even with health insurance. My one single lucky break last year was I had finally met my deductible on my family plan (10,000) that my wifes emergency gall bladder surgery was free of charge. Under Obamacare, my premiums doubled, my copays doubled, and my prescription copays tripled. Minus all the emergency room visits she made last year, her monthly doctor appointments and her prescription costs added up to just over 5,000 and that's not including any labs, extra appointments outside of her regular appointments, and fees incurred on ER visits. Taxation only adds to my burden. So there is a small example of your socialism. thanks.
I intend no disrespect my friend, but your circumstance is not that unusual.
The number one cause of bankruptcy is medical bills .. and for a great many, the only way forward in their circumstance is to rely on socialism and the wisdom of this nation to provide safety nets.
You stated the exact reason why many cannot save their way into retirement.
Even if there were no taxes, many, perhaps even you, could not afford to pay for mounting medical costs.
