Obama: Most people confident he was born in Hawaii

He did provide the necessary information. He produced Hawaii's functional equevelent of a Birth Certificate. It was certified by the State that he was born in the state on a specific date at a specific time. According to the secretary of state he can do no more.

The president knows that a certian percent will never belive that he was born in the USA no matter how much evidence is produced. Ironicaly the percent who do not belive he was born in th eUSA is abou tthe same as beliveve Bush was a good president or that Evolution did not occure. You cant play the game with people who do not consider evidence when choosing what to belive.

It seems to me this issue is working ofr him at the present time.
 
BTW - I'm pretty confident that Obama was born in the US. It has never been my argument that he is "ineligible" it has always been my argument that this is an unnecessary and easy to solve problem that will become serious fringe-only (not the "new" definition where 58% aren't "sure" some are just "pretty sure" therefore the curious are "fringe" type of fringe, it will be actual fringe)...

And using a Ghost Writer for Autobiographies isn't unheard of, nor even shameful, so my belief that the books were written by Ayers has no real bearing on things other than just a curiosity.

I believe that much of what Obama was told about his early life was "enhanced" by his family. We can absolutely see records that his mother lived in Washington state those first two years and didn't return and re-enroll on the Island until after Barack Sr. left and went Harvard. Already a portion of what we "know" about Obama was utter fabrication. Do I think it was with intent? Not really. I just know that two weeks after his birth his mother was attending night classes in Washington, and continued them until re-enrolling in school on the Island after Barack Sr. had left for Harvard. The Goat Herder and Farmgirl story was a myth.

You do realize that Both O'Reilly and Hannity are on your side of this one... Right? So is Beck. Rush Limbaugh also has no interest in this... Me, I'm just curious as to what could possibly be so telling in a college application (we've seen them from other Presidents) that they have to be sealed and protected by every means in expensive court battles...

Really his mom went to school in Washington 2 weeks after he was born. Is that from the school or birthers.com

I am also pretty confident the President was born in the USA... as evidenced by the certified birth record published and sealed by the state of Hawaii, the statement of the Gov. of Hawaii who knew the president's parents when the president was born, the statement of the last and Republican governor of the state of Hawaii who said he saw it, the statement of the current registar of vital statistics, the news paper reports.

I am also confident that the President has done what he can to ensure that all reasonable people are pretty confident he was born in the USA. This is the equivelent of what we in the law call "a jury question".

If you feel you can gain traction argueing it to the jury, (voter in this case), go for it, but its up for the people to decide. Make it an election issue if you choose, but do so at your own peril.

I am sure you are curious, That does not mean he must release them. The president may have written an essay about socialist views he held when he was 18, or he could have had a photo with a huge afro.... who knows, but its not worthy of the press its getting.

I didn't say he lived in Hawaii until age two. I said his dad left the family when he was two (i.e. separated from his wife and moved to MA). What happy family scenario are you talking about? It's pretty clear the marriage wasn't idyllic if Ann Dunham & the newborn moved to WA for her to go to school, instead of staying in Hawaii.


2. You don't prove a negative, you prove a positive. Show the real thing, this goes away for 99.9% of the 40% that are unsure (or think he was born elsewhere) and 18% that are curious and just "don't know".

Proving a positive is exactly what I want birthers to do. Prove positively that Obama was born in a foreign country and isn't eligible to be president.

The SSN is enough to give me pause, there has been zero explanation for it. The Number was issued in 1977, 12 years after his father moved to Kenya. Pretending that he somehow got it through his father while he lived in Connecticut is preposterous. O'Reilly is an idiot for flat making stuff up.

Again, when have I said "must"? I have said throughout that he "should" rather than leaving it as it is. Although Arizona just passed a law that will require it. Let's see how that goes.

i mean...you want proof....yet, you have no problem agreeing with the courts, that birthers can't actually access obama's best evidence, yet you demand, birthers provide proof, while saying they can't have the best proof.

I have no idea whatsoever why Obama WOULD do anything at all to appease a bunch of nutters.

A) To be President, you have to have been born in America. He is President.
B) Anyone who thinks continued birtherism in the spotlight is "good" for the GOP or anyone who wishes to challenge Obama in 2012 is quite delusional.

You don't understand. I, personally, believe the Hawaiian BC, the newspaper announcements, the American parent, etc. are all proof that Obama is a citizen. I don't need him to produce anything more because I'm satisfied with what I've seen.

Birthers like Berg and the others all got their cases tossed for lack of standing. Last year Orly Taitz tried to put one over on us with that phony BC from Kenya. Incidents like these, and a whole lot of supposition and conjecture, are what birthers provide as "proof". Do you understand why that makes us believers cynical about their claims?
