Speaking with Newsweek, Erica Marat, of the College of International Security Affairs, said many young Uzbeks flee the dictatorship but then find it difficult to fit into western societies.

She added: “Uzbekistan is a large country and its economy is not very vibrant. It is also one of the most oppressive countries in the world, so young people are fleeing the dictatorship and at the same time aren’t able to fit in Western societies.

“So they are looking for ways to belong and extremist narratives seem to be the most attractive.”

Aside from the young nationals flee to Syria to fight for ISIS – there is also an al-Qaeda affiliated group of Uzbek fighters in the war-torn country.
 
Ironic that for so many years generations of peoples from every imaginable country on earth have flocked to America to embrace OUR idea of freedom and way of life. Most all have still enjoyed celebrating their particular cultures, food, religion and language within their communities, but that never erased their primary concern and desire to be Americans and abide by our laws and appreciate the lives they've been given here.

Those not assimilating or 'fitting in' should be cause for those few to get thrown out of here. Not allow them stay and seek to destroy the very nation that has welcomed them.

Young, single, ill-educated Muslim men, with no family to restrain them, are always going to find it very hard to adapt to a western liberal lifestyle. Once disillusionment sets in they are highly susceptible to radicalisation. The US should learn from Europe and not repeat their mistakes. This is precisely what has happened in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France and Holland.

I have a very good friend who moved to Amsterdam, the usual left wing Labour voting etc. But now she has seen the effect of so many men and teenagers from places like Morocco. They live in the streets and on their wits, causing huge problems for the police and unsuspecting women. Needless to say she has changed her views towards Muslims a lot as a result.
