'Nuclear' Option triggered today in Senate

True. Only a deluded fool thinks that this will be confined to just a few judicial nominees.

Remember it is ALWAYS the democrat party that starts this bullshit then they caterwaul when the GOP turns the tables on them. There is no going back. The filibuster is gone. I personally am glad because now it will take only 51 votes in the Senate to repeal Obummercare.

by my reading, the changes to the filibuster rules apply only to presidential appointments, and not even all of them. Legislative issues are still and will be subject to potential filibusters.

Today maybe, but precedent will be set. Glad you guys all cheer for the death of liberty, because its blood will be on your hands.

people who don't know the limits of the senate's actions regarding filibusters should probably take the time to find out those limits rather than blather on about shit they obviously remain uninformed about.

Ahh, so they say, but some like Harken are calling for an abolition of the filibuster altogether.

Now, as I said, I don't much give two shits either way.

Let's think this through shall we? What is to stop a future GOP majority Senate from changing the rule to include legislation? The dems really won't have much of a leg to stand on will they? Remember, reconciliation was never used the way that the dems passed Obamacare, but that didn't stop you.

By my reckoning, a GOP Senate and a GOP House with a GOP President can repeal Obamacare and they can eliminate the filibuster and let "majority" rule.

It looks like roses today to the leftists. Majority rule always seems appealing when one is in the majority. But, the founders abhorred majority rule. They considered it a form of tyranny and it is. So the lefties will have their day in the sun, but no majority is ever long lasting. And soon the lefties will be crying in their stew and gnashing their teeth about wanting to "slow things down" and how the "rights of the minority need to be upheld".

You know like Obama said in 2005. Good time.

If republicans, at some point in time when they get a majority in the senate, expand the no filibuster rule to include legislation, then they do. And, just like today's democrats, they will live with the consequences of that action at any point in the future when then would become the minority again. We all understand that what goes around comes around.

and the founders never intended for the senate to require a 6/10th majority to pass anything.... so bringing them up is sort of ridiculous.

also, there needs to be no secret filibusterer(s) and a return to the filibusterer having to stand and talk

Oh the gnashing of teeth that will occur if the Dems lose the Senate. Libs on this site will scream "no fair" at the top of their lungs. Desh comes to mind first.

Yet the brain dead leftists infesting the blogosphere seem to be completely insulated from their hypocrisy; expect excuse making and finger pointing and the never ending effort to engage in the circle of stupidity.

I'm glad they did it and am looking forward to the day Republicans will be able to take advantage of it.

;)

If the Republicans gain a majority in the Senate and hold their majority in the House, is impeachment of Obama a possibility?
