Of course there's no way of knowing, it's a bloody thought experiment. The fact is the native Americans fought amongst themselves long before the evil white man set foot on the continent. Impossible to prove because they didn't record their history, but if there wasn't periodic genocide they would have been exceptional. Tribalism leads to that in primitive cultures. And that's not rationalizing anything.

Why some cultures remain 'stuck' is an interesting anthropological question, but as far anyone knows the Native American culture was static for many centuries and probably thousands of years. I don't know that they did so much as invent the wheel; no literature; their art was limited etc.

Given that, reality, there's ample reason to think they would have remained that way indefinitely. Sooner or later, a superior culture would have over taken them. Or, had someone introduced guns and horses but otherwise left them alone, they would have become more efficient at killing each other.

My Great Grandmother(full blooded Seneca) hated the Mohicans. Seneca's and Mohicans slaughtered eachother for centuries.

It wasn't necessary to free the slaves via civil war. Any president could have emancipated them earlier.

I'll wager the white body count in the Civil War is minimized in public schools and college campuses. It goes a long way towards explaining the blinkered view of our nations history amongst progressives.
