And what about San Diego was a shithole?
San Diego is beautiful. Did you miss it? San Franshithole is nice too they say. Leftism is what makes California a shit hole.

Kids always need their parents... anyway we weren't talking about you forbidding him to do anything...We were just discussing options...
So what's he going to live on if his parents refuse to fund him at Berkeley?
I know kids who have made it on their own as well...that doesn't mean that kids don't need their parents... but it certainly isn't easy and it's certainly isn't the best scenario... I'm sure you'll agree... it would be pretty tough to make it on your own as an 18-year-old in Berkeley... especially when you're a resident of Florida...Kids have options, and I know kids who have done it without their asshole parents, very capable and independent kids, but that's what it would take.
I do not think a degree in Drag Queen Studies is really considered an education.
Why does San Fransico have an App that tells you where the poop on the street is at?When was the last time you were in California?

Scholarships, grants, a part-time job, his savings... like a lot of us who went to college without our parents' help.
Berkeley is one of the most expensive parts of California.

My wife and son are on a College visit to San Francisco, he’s considering colleges for the fall.
On their fourth day, haven’t witnessed a single crime yet!
Does that blow you Trumppers minds?
The reality is for someone out of state there’s no way to support yourself at a place like Cal on your own without massive student loans. You’re looking at like $50K+/year for tuition and room and board. (Unless you get a scholarship or grants of course). But most kids getting part time jobs won’t earn close enough to that amount.

My point stands. If a kid wants to go to a certain college and has the grades to get in, he'll move heaven and earth to find a way.

But a part-time job still isn't going to pay all the bills...you know that... do you think your son could do it without your help? You mentioned that he was going to drive to Maverick to Surf so that would mean a car gas maintenance Insurance Etc on top of everything else... and that would probably cut into the part-time job hours... and that's not meant to be personal just meant to point out that it would be really expensive and difficult to try to do it on your own..You understand that most kids at that level do get scholarships and grants, right?
Then be heavily indebted for the next 20 years or more.
