There's a reason you put policing in quotes. It is because it is a hint that there is something to be read into the word, some unusual meaning. There are no police involved.

As for the rest of your post, you are certainly entitled to believe whatever you wish about what the OP writer intended, but I can tell you as that writer that your impression is completely incorrect. I know what I meant when I wrote the OP and it wasn't what you are saying. It really was no more than what was written; just take it literally; don't read anything else into it. It certainly wasn't about your friend.

It was about Ivanka.

I assure you, Ivanka is not your friend unless there is something in it for her. (And then of course, she is still not REALLY your friend) She's just like her father. She doesn't have friends. She is naturally suspicious of anyone who has anything to do with her. She doesn't think anyone would have anything to do with her unless they are after her money. And her husband and her father are exactly the same way. The people they consider peers are all rich. They are not friends. The Trumps are not very well respected in that crowd. Nice people certainly don't want to have anything to do with them. Bullies and greedy people are drawn to them.

So it’s ok for other precious non-Jews who have converted to Judaism to open presents if they so desire but not Ivanka because you don’t like her? Am I understanding the premise better now?

Edit: If this was in the news or the social pages then admittedly I missed it but do we know if she gave her kids presents?

If someone makes a public vow to give up a previous religion as a requirement for becoming a member of an adopted one, it is certainly disingenuous to privately continue to practice the previous religion after making a vow not to.

Please note that this is an opinion thread which is speculative. We have no information on whether Ivanka actually had a Christmas or not, nor which form of Judaism she has adopted. I'm glad you've enjoyed exploring different aspects of musing about this as have I. Really, it is just a thread for amusement. It has been fun, hasn't it?

Maybe Ivanka became a Messianic Jew, which some other Jews feel is not really being a Jew at all, as it sort of tries to be both Jewish and Christian: "Messianic Judiasm breaks off from other parts of the Jewish faith by accepting the New Testament and the concept of Jesus Christ as a Messiah, which some people argue makes this a Christian, not Jewish, religion."
