Nike shares fall as backlash erupts

Neither Nike or their share holders are worried, after all, they approved the deal with Colin.

Shareholders weren’t given a say

I seriously doubt the market is responding one way or another to this announcement.

Earnings will be key. Too early to say.

Also what is being list in all of this is that Kaperdick isn’t the only person being tapped for this marketing campaign. So anyone who tries to pin its success or failure on him is playing a fools game. But it won’t stop them

If Nike were really brave Kaperdick would be solo.

I'd hardly call a 2.6 pt drop a major backlash. They'll probably earn that back by the EOD....maybe tomorrow. It's funny as hell how bent out of shape y'all get over this sillyness. Oh No! Nike is sponsoring a black athlete who protest police abuse of blacks. Wow! Imagine that! LOL LOL LOL

You are either supremely ignorant, or a liar. If all he did was "protest police abuse of blacks", it probably wouldn't be a big deal. It's HOW he went about protesting, among other things. Wearing socks with cops depicted as pigs, and his admiration for ruthless communist dictators plays a huge role in the animus directed at Krapernick.

I'm not so sure NIKE choosing to be the face of anti American sentiment is a wise strategy,

there's a niche in anything I guess, that just seems a bad idea. And you may get current sports figures attached to NIKE wanting out, and I am sure the other brands would be happy to come in and swoop them up

we shall see I guess, proof will be in sales

I know I wont buy NIKE anymore, as long as Kapernick is attached to the brand

Nike shares fell Tuesday morning after the reveal of a new ad campaign for the 30th anniversary of "Just Do It," featuring former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, pulled a wave of responses, both for and against the marketing materials, on social media.

The stock was down more than 2 percent in early trading, as #NikeBoycott was trending on Twitter.

Sounds like a good day to buy!

one has the freedom to burn the flag.
I wore a patch upside down on my ass during Vietnam on the back pocket of my jeans as a distress message about a meat-grinder war of lies.

That said the nebulous kneelers who are upset about something (the message keeps changing) is beyond hyperbole. The war was over, I retired my jeans and the distress ass patch with it.

There hasn't been nothing changing other than the spin. Given the record of police using abusive force, jury nullification when they are called to account and their record of playing politics, hiding behind the flag and pulling the faux patriotism card, I don't blame those who have been victimized by police, and their supporters for protesting. To me, what's admirable about their protesting, and this is the thing that a lot of morons are missing, is that the protests are peaceful. Let me repeat that for emphsis....THEY ARE PEACEFUL.

It's not like they're going out and violently attacking cops in protest. They are following in the footsteps of peaceful protest of Ghandi and MLK and NO ONE IS BEING HURT except for hypersensitive snowflakes who automatically assume "DERP, DERP, DEY NOT PATRIOTS, DEY HATE DA ARMY! DERP, DERP.".

What is it about pets, children and waving a flag that turns peoples brains into a pile of shit? LOL

I was thinking of changing my Avatar to Kap but if I did that the smell of urine from all you whiners, who don't have the first fucking clue what freedom and liberty mean, would be intolerable! LOL LOL LOL

The funny part was I didn't really agree with Kap until y'all start pissing your self that a black athlete actually practices his rights!! Shades of Mohamed Ali! LOL LOL LOL

You mean the freedom and liberty the owners have to not hire him as a player for which he's whining and crying? Are you claiming the owners don't have the right to not hire him?

It's always the "Dindu Nuffin" blacks claiming they were abused by the police.

I can't debate that mish -mash where you tie police violence into "a record of playing politics, hiding behind the flag and pulling the faux patriotism card"..

also that type of unfocused "spin" as you call it ( messaging) is what leaves me scratching my head as to what the latest complaint du jour is

I've come up with some good ideas in terms of police shooting, like mandatory review by a states atty
and not just reliance on citizens review boards or Internal Affairs.

But those ideas get lost in the noise created by the kneeling. It's dramatic but unfocused, and without solutions.
It mars the anthem which is one of the very few ceremonies where we all stand as Americans -
which has an intrinsic value itself

BTS is done but the quarterly dividends are outstanding. It isn't butthurt nazis. That isn't how stocks like that drop 3%
Nike up $.20 in after hours trading. Dividend has been declared, recorded today, payable on 10/1

I doubt they'll change the dividend in the next quarter, and as has been mentioned, the price will be back in a day or two. Those who dumped the stock out of principle, can enjoy the videos of people burning sneakers. Nike is up 30% for the year, and will be fine.
