NFL TV Ratings Continue To Dive.

Man, I was a diehard baseball fan up to that point. I collected cards, I knew all stats etc. My passion for the game has never come close to returning to that level
You don't think McGuire/Sosa saved the game the next year?

I wish it was? Why do i wish that? Look at what was said in this thread. There are people turned off from the sport because of Kap's actions. That's a fact. I listed four/five reasons earlier for the decline. I didn't say one reason was more a reason than any other.
We agree on a few on your list. I thought the campaign might have had some effect, but there was only one conflict with a debate.
Losing Brady/Manning might have been one of the biggest, along with some injuries that kept local viewership down. Some teams just suck (Jets), so their viewers won't waste the time. In past seasons, they did barely enough to give fans a hope that they'll peak as playoffs neared.

But, when the playoffs near, you get an interest from viewers who have not been watching their local teams, but are now interested in how the season plays out.

Or, they're just tuning in hoping to see Brady get his leg broken.

Oh yeah, throw in the domestic violence issue that is turning some off. Josh Brown being the latest
Domestic violence has as little to do with viewership as Kaepernick.

Did viewership drop after the Vick incident? If/When people are pissed about a social issue, they go after the companies that sponsor the individual athlete. I'm not aware of any loss of sponsorship by Kaepernick.

McGuire/Sosa didn't really come for another three years. They did bring a number of people back to the game but my passion never came back at the same level

Not sponsorship but viewership. I'm not trying to state what that number is but it definitely contributes. I read people on Facebook and blogs who write they are turned off by the domestic violence. Again I'm not saying a number but it's out there

Yea same here. In fact I've Never recovered my passion for pro sports of any kind since 94.

I'd rather go ride my bike or plan and execute a traditional five course Italian dinner. You should try my pappardelle pasta with beef ragu. All made from scratch, including the pasta. Beats any game on tv.

I wish Griffey wouldn't have slowed down after the All-Star break. He Was the HR leader at that point, and finished with 56. Had he gone on to hit ~70 homers, that might have truly excited everyone, because we all knew McGuire and Sosa were cheating, just as we knew Bonds was cheating in 2001.

Incidentally, I saw McGuire blast a mammoth HR that season here in Seattle. Longest HR ever hit in the Kingdome. I saw Edgar hit the second longest (#1 at the time) a year earlier. You could say I saw some neat stuff in the Kingdome.

That's because they have hateful SJW's and black panther members like Caperdick sitting for the NA.

The NFL should have have taken action. Yeah you don't HAve to stand, but you will be fined, or not allowed to play. etc.

Shitty camera work, because you can't see the ball strike the scoreboard up there. I still remember the sound of the ball making contact. Thwunk!

things ruining football and I predicted it last year it is starting its eventual decline

1) Goodall sucks as Comissioner
2) concussion scam
3) domestic abuse allegations
4) feminizing the sport for Rana Toxic Titties month
5) horrible officiating
6) can't tell what constitutes a catch anymore
7) pass interference or defensive holding on every long pass
8) Kaepernick bullshit protest. People watch games to escape. Not have some over entitled scrub shove his race baiting politics in our face.
9) oversaturation of games Sunday, Sunday Night. Monday Night, Thursday Night
10) Too many commercials

How is the concussion issue a scam? I agree that they should abolish TNF, and I also think they need to end those stupid London games.

True for many after the strike. Then we had the earthquake a few years later. Of course, if you lived in a market with a successful team, you quickly forgot how the game screwed you, and slowly began to watch again.
Or should I say....you watched the Yankees dominate!

If you can't find a single thing good to stand up for America .. not a single thing .. then as far as I'm concerned, you should get the Hell out of my country and go live someplace else.
