Lower the minimum wage, all you do is lower the wage. There is only so much work, the idea that companies will hire more workers at lower wages is too stupid even for you.

When they cut pay across the board, he responded by working harder and longer hours. He was the last laborer standing when his employer went bankrupt, and he walked across town and got another job the next day based on his reputation. During this time he fed his family and saved enough to buy his first house.

No it wouldn't. Work requiring less skill of less hard work will attract more workers thus pay will be less. Workers who decide to work harder or obtain more skill will find higher paying jobs. This is all simple supply and demand.

Unfortunately higher pay for higher skill sets is often limited by the economic climate. America is facing decades of lower pay for higher skills because it is a buyer's market.
