Newt steals from fanny

I don't particularly care as his future opponent also received funds from the same source in an amount much greater in a more direct "buy political power" kind of way. I think that is a bag that Obama and the Democrats probably don't want to open.

I see. So you have no problem with Newt Gingrich "consulting" for Freddie Mac at a time when the Republican controlled Senate failed to bring legislation that you personally deem absolutely critical to prevent the subprime crisis and the global financial crisis, notwithstanding that you have previously blamed the minority Democrats and Barney Frank for this incredible policy failure?

Nice.

You're kidding, right?

Again, not particularly when I consider the fact that the super majorities for the dems in both houses with the White House as well netted the exact same result after the millions they paid for direct political power.

Again, I do not believe that this is a bag that you want opened, while it may look slightly hypocritical for Newt, the reality is far worse for the Dems in Congress and the WH. It's sick how much these companies have infiltrated our government.

When it comes in measure of hypocrisy, I will look at the actions of the accusers and compare, most voters who are independents also will.

Basically: Mote, eye, bible verse, look it up.

I tried looking it up, and the 1st link that came up was a poll from the last election showing that indies preferred McCain over Obama by a tally of 52% to 37%.

And that didn't work out too well.

52% will definitely vote AGAINST Obama~ This is not an early poll of support for a candidate-but you guys keep playing The Mystic Monkey's- good luck with that.

A) People look at actions AND words, and how the two juxtapose.
B) The bag is opened, on Newt, in a big way.
C) It is sick how the companies have infiltrated our gov't. Why, Damo - you sound like an OWS guy!

That's why I think this is so irrelevant. Who even cares? It'd be suicidal to nominate him. I highly doubt he's going to be the nominee but if he is, the election is over. So either way, he's not relevant.

It is funny to watch the "anybody but Mitt" campaign as each of the others implodes in turn.

Difference: I do not think we need to scrap capitalism, as I've heard so many OWS people say. The TEA Party people say that often, but that is pretty much one of the few places that the OWS and TEA Party groups agree.

A) And when they see the millions received to buy the Democrats they will see the "mote, eye, bible verse" moment.
B) And I'm good with that.
C) See above.

I think it matters that Newt railed against the contributions. Therein lies the hypocrisy, which seems to be conceptually difficult for you. And again, I think if he didn't have an (R) next to his name, we'd be hearing more from you about that, as opposed to the usual they do it, too.

And Newt has to win a primary, btw.

There was no link in your post.

Note that in the very same poll, Obama beats every Republican candidate. The assertion that Obama is "toast" based on poll that shows him beating each of the Republican contenders is a little suspect, innit?

What is does tell us is who they will vote against- that would be president elect incompetent. Obama is toast when you consider he needs the independents to win- He has lost them. Gingrich or Romney have them.

I find it utterly fascinating that you blamed Barney Frank and the minority party in the Senate for not passing a particular bill that you think would have prevented the global financial crisis while the Senate Republicans failed to bring the bill up for a vote while Newt Gingrich was on retainer for Freddie Mac to woo Congressional Republicans not to regulate the GSEs and give Newt a total pass here. It blows my mind.

And I think that people will find merit in his criticism, even if he was an employee in the past. I don't think that this will end his campaign, I think it will cause that "bible verse" moment I spoke of earlier and that this bag that was "opened big time" will seriously backfire on the Democrats. If they were pristine I could see it, but when they are deeper by a long-shot in the mudpit it isn't something they should really draw attention to.

Basically, what you are saying about Newt towards the democrats... And levels will count to the independent voter.
