Based upon the source, the move wasn’t favor by the majority of Floridians, even Republicans in Florida

DeSantis did it aiming to win over the right wing base that is vital in GOP primaries, however, it could seriously hurt him in a national election

To some people politicians they support can do no wrong. But to many of us, we understand we won’t agree 100% with those we vote for/support.

TBH I didn’t even read what Newsom was calling him out for. This is nothing for him. But the idea that a person doesn’t understand a state, even if they are off on one issue, with those type of results doesn’t make sense to me.

I’ll offer a California example. Last year Newsom vetoed a bill that would have allowed supervised legal drug injection sites (which big city Mayors supported) He claimed it was because it would have unintended consequences but a lot of people were pissed off and saying he only did it because he has Presidential aspirations and didn’t want this used against him. In theory one could say he doesn’t understand the state by vetoing it but of course Newsom understands the state. He knows people may be mad but it’s not going to hurt him and he’s playing the long game (I.e. the Presidency) politically.

But let’s say that’s true. If DeSantis knew that and used it to his advantage to win, how would that imply he doesn’t understand the state?
