New images could change cancer diagnostics, but ICE detained the Harvard scientist who analyzes them

It is like asking why the Jewish scientists in the Manhattan Project could not just do their research in Europe. First of all, they would be put in concentration camps. Second they might have been put in special development concentration camps, and developed the atomic bomb for Hitler.

Bad analogy. Whether they did research in Europe or elsewhere--assuming they weren't offed first--would have changed little. The US was aware of the potential of a nuclear weapon and put forward a concerted and organized effort to build one.

As for the later idea, review the case of Curt Harzstark who was a political dissident sent to Dachau. He invented what was probably the best mechanical, handheld, calculator ever. He used this invention to slow play the Nazis keeping him alive while never quite finishing the invention.

For Germany, they lacked the economy and means to do all of the hard engineering, chemistry, and production that went into a nuclear device. Sure, they had the theory down, but that doesn't equate into a working weapon. The US had the cubic dollars and necessary infrastructure to make a nuclear weapon. The same goes for a whole plethora of other weapons, technology, and infrastructure.

For example, there was no other nation on the planet that could have built the Alcan Highway with as few as 5,000 men. Same goes for the Burma (Ledo) Road.

An intercontinental bomber? Germany might have gotten a dozen after ten years of development and production. The US in the same time could build an entire fleet of hundreds and gotten them operational on a regular and sustained basis.
Petrova will probably be put in jail in Russia. And anything she develops in Russia will belong to Russia, not us.

That's her problem. She's a graduate student here. Nothing special.
The Russians want her deported to Russia, and then jailed. They would also like her to develop tech for them.

She may or may not develop tech. Look at Andrei Tupolev as an example of what might happen.
Uhm... It is the alt right that keeps claiming the healing powers of drinking urine. The rest of us wonder what you people are thinking.

People like me, wonder WTF you are smoking...
Frog embryos are not "illicit", but they do need to be reported. As a general rule, the punishment for not reporting them is a $50 fine the first time. She made a mistake, and should be fined. She also helped America by agreeing to transport needed materials from France.

Clearly, they are, and that's why she was arrested for not declaring them.
Would you deport Einstein for a parking ticket?

Non sequitur.
You have a lot of hatred for people better educated than you.

No, I don't. I don't know if she's better educated than me. She works in different fields than I do.

A groundbreaking microscope at Harvard Medical School could lead to breakthroughs in cancer detection and research into longevity. But the scientist who developed computer scripts to read its images and unlock its full potential has been in an immigration detention center for two months — putting crucial scientific advancements at risk.

The scientist, the 30-year-old Russian-born Kseniia Petrova, worked at Harvard’s renowned Kirschner Lab until her arrest at a Boston airport in mid-February. She is now being held at ICE’s Richwood Correctional Center in Monroe, Louisiana, and fighting possible deportation to Russia, where she said she fears persecution and jail time over her protests against the war in Ukraine.

Meh?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. I would argue that Harzstark's offense was not being a "political dissident", but rather having Jewish ancestry, but yes, he developed technology in a concentration camp.

I always doubt how well technology can be developed in a concentration camp, but I would rather not test it. I would rather the technology be developed in the USA.

I am glad we used the scientists from Europe to develop the nuclear bomb, and did not send them back to Europe.

I'm talking about this: "...where she said she fears persecution and jail time over her protests against the war in Ukraine."

Which begs the question, why would she lie about the frog embryos and put her visa at risk? And IMHO this is another example of Harvard neglecting their students by refusing to cooperate with immigration authorities. People like her need immigration "wranglers" when they travel to streamline the process when they travel. Maybe some of them famous Harvard law students?

A 'ground breaking microscope'???:laugh::laugh: Whadda scam!

It is like asking why the Jewish scientists in the Manhattan Project could not just do their research in Europe.
They didn't want to.
First of all, they would be put in concentration camps.
Right. Hitler would put someone capable of developing the Bomb first in a concentration camp! :rofl2:
Second they might have been put in special development concentration camps, and developed the atomic bomb for Hitler.
No such thing.
Petrova will probably be put in jail in Russia.
You are not a seer, Wally.
And anything she develops in Russia will belong to Russia, not us.
Big hairy deal.
The Russians want her deported to Russia, and then jailed. They would also like her to develop tech for them.
Then why would she be jailed??? Paradox. You cannot argue both sides of a paradox, Wally.
Uhm... It is the alt right that keeps claiming the healing powers of drinking urine.
The image clearly shows it's Democrats.
The rest of us wonder what you people are thinking.
I'm sure you do. You don't even know what YOU are thinking most of the time.

Cut and pasters...chanting what Democrats tell them to chant. No mind of their own. Sad.

They are illicit.
As a general rule, the punishment for not reporting them is a $50 fine the first time. She made a mistake, and should be fined. She also helped America by agreeing to transport needed materials from France.
She broke the law. She lost her visa. She's being deported.
Would you deport Einstein for a parking ticket?
A parking ticket is not breaking federal law, Wally.
You have a lot of hatred for people better educated than you.
She isn't.

They were US citizens, Wally.

Right. Hitler would put someone capable of developing the Bomb first in a concentration camp! :rofl2:
Uhm... That is exactly what Hitler did. Many of the top scientists fled before being placed in the concentration camps, but some of them did end up being killed in concentration camps.

Fritz Haber needed to flee Germany, even though he had developed most of the chemical weapons that the Germans had.

Never happened, Wally. Stop making shit up.

You deny science, Tball. You also deny mathematics, history (even recent history), logic, and the Constitution of the United States and all State constitutions.
When have I ever done any of that?
Show us with the post YOU are saying I made.
Come on, YOU can't because I never did.
YOU are nothing but an ASSHOLE TROLL

Sounds like a load of standard left-wing "spin" to me.

Who is it exactly, that is saying this woman is able to unlock the potential of a ground-breaking microscope that could lead to "breakthroughs in the detection of cancer? If this were true the scientific details would already be published in the high-impact medical literature - in Journals like "Nature", and "The Lancet", etc.

Equally, where did this Harvard-based, female scientist - who developed the critical computer technology referred to - ever find the time to be taking part in political protests. ? And WHY, EXACTLY, was she ARRESTED by ICE at an AIRPORT in Boston ?

ICE needs to be abolished, and the next Democratic Administration will probably do just that.
We must already have other bureaus or departments that could do that work PROPERLY.
ICE is stained forever by its lawless SS tactics and must be abolished.
You are a radical revolutionary.
