Flynn likely would have won the trial. The wrong date on the 302 makes it inadmissible as evidence.
Problem is trials are expensive and Flynn was already broke and they threatened his son. So yeah, Flynn plead guilty. Whether Flynn is actually guilty remains an open question.
But why were investigators asking Flynn questions that they already knew the answer to? What alleged *crime* were they investigating? Why didn’t investigators warn Flynn that he was a target in an investigation?

Here is the way this is supposed to work, Frankie.
Agents approach Flynn as if they are interested in something besides seeing if Flynn’s verbal testimony matches the transcript of his conversation with Kislyak. Flynn, just be sure they aren’t up to something, asks ‘am I a target or subject of a criminal investigation or are you just interested in what the Russian diplomat told me?’
If the agents were honest and told Flynn he was being investigated, Flynn would have asked ‘for what crime?’ Or more probably, Flynn would say ‘you can go away now, I don’t want to talk with you—about anything’. It would have saved himself a lot of grief and money. Unfortunately for Flynn, he doesn’t get a do-over.

In Mullet’s defense, the interview occurred before he was appointed. The problem is, Mullet picked it up in order to squeeze Flynn. So I guess there is no defense lol.
Though again, there’s a chance Mullet wasn’t aware of just how sketchy it was until after he indicted Flynn. And it’s certainly possible Mullet wasn’t aware of the date discrepancy on the 302 at the time the indictment was made. But that means Mullet [more likely, one of the democrat-donors working under him] was just plain old incompetent.
