New Australian Leftwing Labor Gov elected implements mandatory internet censorship

I assume China has laws against murder & theft.

Are we "wrong" to be "aligned" with them on that?

You're turning more & more into the biggest waste of time on this board.
LOL. Pssst... That was my point...

What a total hack you have become! I have yet to see you argue that we are aligned with them on murder laws so the comparison for the Death Penalty is invalid any time somebody uses it in an argument against the Death Penalty.

I presume it is because you agree with them and are willing to let anything slide if it supports what you agree with.

I compare it with one thing that the left consistently states during arguments on the Death Penalty (something I agree with them on) as they selectively list nations that also apply the death penalty (IMO a bad argument, as you suggest here please note the agreement) and use the argument in the same context as the left does with the Death Penalty. Then, in a sudden epiphany you realize that it is a "bad argument".

How is it I've seen people say it to me lately? Oh yes:

"So, in the future, the next time some person aligned with your party makes this "argument" I expect you to jump on in all over them about how it is a strawman."

Thank you for participating.

BTW - None of this changes my one actual statement of any weight.

That I would be as uncomfortable with our government doing this as I am with warrantless wiretapping.

I have yet to see that argument made on here about the death penalty. You've really become an absolute fucking imbecile.

My point is more that we should just look at the merits of whether or not the internet is something that needs regulation or monitoring, irregardless of whatever China chooses to do. That's what I meant by strawman, and I stand by that, because it's an incredibly stupid point to make.

By the way, imbecile, I have never argued firmly against the death penalty. I have always said that I waiver on it, because, though philiosphically opposed to the idea of it, I know it gives solace & some peace to the families of victims.

Idiot.

Censorship is a right-wing policy.
Bullshit! Andrea Dworkin was an advocate of the censorship of ALL types of Pornography and actually she and Catherine MacKinnon wrote a very broad censorship ordinance for the city of Minneapolis but was luckily vetoed by the Mayor. Then Indianapolis passed their version of the same law and it was struck down by the 7th Circuit. Many Left wing feminists are strong believers in censoring pornography and allowing women to sue the makers of porography anytime a man beats them up and they can prove that he watched porn at sometime before the assault. The left wing and the rightwing are strong allies when it comes to the censorship of porn and rap.

They are left-wingers who just happen to hold some right-wing opinions, like censorship.

And my point is that I would be as uncomfortable with them regulating the internet as I would with the warrantless wiretapping. Or as I would if they decided to start telling Barnes & Noble what they could carry.

And I have seen that argument several times, nearly any time somebody mentions the Death Penalty you get the "Look at the countries who also have the death penalty!", you have simply become immune to it because of its status as a standard in that debate. Hence my use of the same type of "argument" here. Again, I agree it is a crappy argument, but it is what I read constantly when seeing the arguments against the Death Penalty.

The government is reviewing this thread as we speak. I see some jail time for some of you in the near future. :cof1:
