His team has to play in a community where that kind of shit won't be tolerated.

I wouldn't have suspended him if I were the team owner. I'd put a fucking hit on him.
 
Kyrie is interesting on many levels. Someone like Kanye associated himself with Trump which makes it easier to go after him. Kyrie has been big on the social justice scene. I've seen a couple of black friends post on social media how much money Kyrie has donated to various social justice causes, including buying a home for George Floyd's family and it's gotten a positive response. So he can't be written off as just some right winger. It's why you haven't really seen any NBA players who so often speak out on social issues say much here. I've seen it argued that what he said was wrong but his heart is in the right place (on the issues) and its racism how he's being dealt with here. I think that's more an outlier position but one others share.

He's a really strange guy to me but he is who he is.

You make a good point. There are very few of us who are archetypes of good or evil. People are far more complex than that. I think the problem that Kyrie has is that he isn't very bright, but he likes to talk. Which gets him in trouble. The NBA and the Nets simply can't have someone like Kyrie serving as a spokesman for the league. Anthony Edwards, a bright young rising star made homophobic statements during the preseason. To his credit, he did the mea culpa, and Kyrie did not. That being said, he's different than 'ye' because I think 'ye' has mental issues. Kyrie is just dumb.

Interesting note..... I'm watching the Celtics/Bulls game. Apparently, in the pregame, Jalen Rose stated that he thought that the woman who had the alleged relationship with the Celtics coach should have her name released. At halftime, he was put on the air to apologize. That's how seriously the NBA takes this stuff. To their credit.

When Kyrie was younger my recollection is he was presented as some deep thinker who cared about the Palestinians and social justice etc. but in reality he really is dumb, like you said. (One can be dumb and still care about issues.)

The Nets are a mess and the fact that they are going after Udoka just shows they DGAF.
 
When I was a young boy, baseball legend Ty Cobb, who never lived to be my present age, described basketball as a "bunch of niggers running around in their underwear."

I thought that it was a crude remark then, even as young as I was, and I haven't changed my mind since.

But since our local team was in the finals last season--they lost--I actually watched a little of it.

Cobb was vulgar, but was he completely wrong? It didn't seem like much of a game to me, and few of the players seemed that they might someday split the atom.

I'm not much on watching sports, but all the major US games are fun to play.

I did play basketball on my eighth-grade team.

I was only put in the game to start a fight with the other team's best player.

We'd both get thrown out, but our team would only lose me --who couldn't play that game for shit.

That's the kind of coaches that we had in youth activities back then.

If Boston was like that, imagine what Texas must have been like back then!
