I've always wondered myself, I remember a guy once told me that there was a study that linked spelling to intelligence, but I searched and couldn't find any.

My grandfather, who is my role model, was a smart self made business man who went his entire life only ever working for himself, we only spoke on the phone and in person when he was alive. So I was amazed one time years later my Mom handed me a paper he wrote about some business matter and it looked like it was written with the grammar and spelling ability of a 2nd grader.
So from that point forward I never automatically judge someone's IQ by their spelling ability, BUT that being said, most really dumb people I've met (even if they are nice people) tend to be bad spellers and vice-versa for intelligent people.

We've had very talented Ph.D. students who spelled about like you, Jarod. My guess is that the bulk of their exams through school didn't rely heavily on essay-type questions, so spelling never really became an issue.

What century are you living in asshat? Maybe you should do some introspective work and see if it couldn't just be that women are turning you down because you're a dick, and not because you don't make a lot of money?

I started my own business only over the past couple of years, and went full time at it only last year. Even in the midst of this terrible recession, I am doing business. I wrote up 800 dollars in sales today at two different networking events, and that's all profit for me, because I'm a writer. I make way more than my s/o, but he's smart, funny, and sexy, and I couldn't care less. I've been in the reverse situation, and was all through my 20's. I was never this happy.

You really need to stop blaming whatever your relationship failures are, on women. It's just annoying. And false. There are all kinds of women out there, and there are all kinds of men out there. The same way a woman who was abused as a child will consistently be attracted to men who beat up women, and believe that all men beat up women, you're in a self-fulfilling rut too. Break the cycle and get some help!

I have a friend with a doctorate who can spell just about any word if you ask him, but if you read his emails or any kind of typing, you'd think he was mentally disabled or something. That's another thing a lot of people never think about - on the internet, how much is the inability to spell, and how much is it being a really bad typist.

Good point. Especially on boards such as this, there isn't an automatic spellcheck, which I find a nuisance, anyway.

But there are also generalities that do exist. Most women will not tolerate a poor man. Im not blaming anyone. And... I rarely get turned down. But congratulations on your hairy set.
