My Thoughts on the Coming Election

So from the get go I've called Obama to win. By a fairly significant margin (I think it was 8 points). But that's not the issue. I've been thinking about the current crop of Republican candidates and how odd it is that the latest guy (or girl) to enter the race always garners a huge amount of media attention. It seems that this election is more akin to a reality TV show than a political contest. And I don't know what's worse; that we as a nation have steadily progressed towards that, or that it's essentially inevitable at this point. And because of that I understand voter apathy, especially among my generation.

Most of the newbie stars are always loser clowns such as Bachmann and Perry, so the media swarms over them with the intent of painting all candidates as like them. The only exception to this was 2008, when the media went out of its way to portray McCain as out-of-touch with GOP voters.

With the absolute zany cast of characters on the right, it should be a "slam dunk" for President Obama, but it won't be. Only if the economy and unemployment take respective turns, otherwise, it will be a "nail-biter", won by the skin of teeth...because the Republicans will mount a smear campaign, the likes of never seen before, which will include "race", patriotism, citizenship, and competency. They will try to blame the devaluing of America's credit rating on Obama, although it was brinkmanship that nearly brought us to default, because the Republican tack was so insistent on protecting the wealthy from any increased tax burden, to the chagrin of the American populace, who wanted the opposite, overwhelmingly. Hopefully Obama's billion dollar campaign warchest will be enough to counter and deflect blows. In any event, he is the best debater, the most calm and collected, which has served him well. We don't need another Republican president, after the likes of George Bush....which means that Rick Perry doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell.

There were 18 pinheads running under the Democrat/Communist/Socialist flag in 2008....was Obama one of later entrants ?

What exactly would you recommend, for the GOP to appear more 'serious' than a reality show? I see your complaint, but where is your solution? Or, did you just want to whine and bitch? I personally don't see the 'reality show' aspects as you do, I see a political party attempting to find its voice, a process taking place, by where the GOP will ultimately settle on a single candidate to run against Obama. There is nothing different or abnormal about this process, it's the way both parties have done primaries since we've had primaries. Go back and dig up some archival footage of the 2004 DNC debates... it could easily be mistaken for an episode of "The Biggest Loser!" Never before, has such profound stupidity been assembled on one stage... but that's the process, that's how parties select a nominee, when the selection isn't obvious.

And you're doing crack again. This GOP field from Santorum to Bachmann, to Cain to Paul and Gingrich, has got to be on par with Ringling Bros, Barnum and Bailey Circus. Debating whether or not global warming or science exists? Whether aid should be administered to states and cities affected by disaster? Signing a marriage pledge with a provision about slavery??? Having conflict of interest after conflict of interest??? Are you insane?
2004? My dog would have been a better president than Bush's second term. Anyone of those DNC candidates would have been infinitely better than George Bush, who is responsible for the deep shit we find ourselves in, that Barack Obama had to take on, with a obstructionist Republican Congress to thwart his every move. You better go somewhere.

You can spout that HuffingtonPost crap all day long...it won't alter the historical record, the facts....

The fact is,....ANY President that can boast of an average unemployment rate of 5.3% over an 8 year period, in spite of a horrendous terrorist attack on the economic center of not only the country but having a world wide impact is a wonderful record....the stable and growing economy from 2001 through 2008 in just undeniable history.....like it or not....
This time it just happens to be a Republican named Bush.....

Just as the take over of Congress by the liberals for his last 2 years of his term is undeniable...they surly share in the ensuing events
Just as the full control of congress and the Presidency by Democrats from 2009 to 2011 is undeniable....they are certainly responsible for ensuing events...
If you and your party have complete control of the government AND a friendly and complaisant media....events are absolutely their responsibility....good or bad...

Sorry if facts don't agree with your "hack" mindset

Compared to Obama 2 1/2 years at the helm, Bush's years were Utopia until the mid-term election of 2006 and pinheads took over the entire congress....

Oh, no, bitch. Your "font' and color scheme, notwithstanding, you can't have it both ways. You want to dump the woes of the economy and the pangs of 2 theaters of war on President Obama, but you want to give that POS , George Bush , "a pass", and enlist the Democratic Congress as accomplices in the ruination of the American Dream, credibility with the rest of the world, and a damn near global depression???? You can kiss my ass, on that one. Bush and his Cabinet, lied to the American people, either deliberately or cluelessly, stating faulty intel, that Niger was the purveyor of yellowcake uranium for Saddam Hussein. A lie. Told to instill fear and dread, and to give license to the Bush administration to start a war with Iraq, when bin Laden was the culprit.
Then your ilk wants to blame the Democratic Congress for going along with the okey-doke. Thus making them "co-conspirators", and relieving Bush of the sole responsibility.
When you come off your "crack high", we might be able to talk sense about Bush's responsibility in all this shit and mayhem...until then...talk to the hand.

Faulty intell isn't the doing of Bush.....read the NIE of October 2002......its the product of every intelligence agency put together and they came to the conclusions in it....
The War Resplution was duly voted on and COULD NOT PASS WITHOUT THE YES VOTES OF DEMOCRATS.....
and nothing you whine about can change those FACTS....
Saddam was certainly more of a danger to the world than Qaddafi...so go piss up that rope....

The Democratic Congress were not accomplices in the ruination of the American Dream, or credibility with the rest of the world, and a damn near global depression...THEY and THEIR POLICYS WERE THE DIRECT CAUSE

You're free to dispute any claim I made in the post.....have at it.....we'll see who has truth on their side....
I don't want your opinions, I want to discuss FACTS....

Bravo, or Blago, as some call you. Let me explain the facts of life to you. You're not important enough for me to dispute your claims. The fact that you're making them , at all, is laughable. I give a shit what you want or don't want. I summarily dismiss you and your commentary as "meaningless", and "irrelevant". You think conventional wisdom holds George Bush and Dick Cheney in any favorable light? If you do, that would be proof that you are on a crack high, and posting in between searching for crumbs on your carpet.

...because the Republicans will mount a smear campaign, the likes of never seen before, which will include "race", patriotism, citizenship, and competency.

why on earth would they bother.....all they have to do is repeat "jobs" over and over......

Obama beat McCain by 9.5 million votes......there are 13.9 million unemployed people.....guess what.....

this is why you are going to lose, you think this election is over global warming instead of over jobs.....

This is insane people want jobs, not promises of a "new green economy"... The problem with this ideologue in the White House is there is no interim planning. Either it's the technology that doesn't exist to power "the future" or nothing. They can't feed themselves with the promise of a "new economy" and "hope"...

But on a brighter note, they might make 500 Chevy Volts next year and those mice are well funded in San Francisco.
