Muslim leaders to abandon plans for Ground Zero community center

I fail to see what Freemasonry has to do with this.

This concept that we need to respect all god worshipping faiths is masonic.

No gods should be worhsipped, because it's irrational stupidity to believe in god. Masons like religion because they like unbridalled power.

No, you said you opposed building at this site because some families of some of the victims opposed it. Well, how far away is far enough away for you to decide that the families' objections are meritless?

I would say, at least outside the perimeter of the debris field. Did you know, a piece of Muhammed Atta's hijacked 'missile' crashed through the roof of that building? This makes the location very symbolic from a historical perspective to radical Jihadis.

It is a principal I thought you believed in and I think that your stance is a violation of that principle, but I could be wrong.
Yes, you could be wrong even about what you think my stance is. I think it is unwise to know you are creating conflict, yet say that you are "reaching out". I think it is hypocrisy to cry out for tolerance on one hand then ignore the same cries from those you seek "tolerance" from.

It doesn't matter what religion it is, this is not the way to build a bridge.

Yes, it is masonic, but it really has nothing to do with this particular issue at all. There's no "power" in Freemasonry, except in the minds of the paranoid, but that is neither here nor there. The conversation is about the Mosque and whether we think it should be built where it is likely to be built.

In what way did he imply that legal is the same as right?
You're like a freakin' broken record....its all over the news networks for days and you seem to be only pinhead that doesn't get it.....everyone in the country gets it, but you.

Obama was scolding those that opposed the building of this mosque; and he came out and said, "shut the fuck up Americans, the muslims have a right"....
except he used different words to say the same thing...and we all know it....so give it a fuckin' rest.

Do you disagree that, "Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country"

Cuz thats what BHO said...

Holy crap, this country is officially screwed if a house of worship dedicated to God causes the reich wing's heads to explode.

I've yet to hear a reasonable or plausible explanation of how a Mosque on private property two blocks from the former world trade center is a slap in the face of anyone. This wouldn't even be a story if the reich wing nutosphere hadn't been flogging it with increasing paranoia and and faux rage. At this point, thanks to the wingnutosphere, most americans probably have the impression that the Mosque is actually being built on the site of the former WTC, as a "victory" mosque dedicated to 9/11.

Congratulation, wingnuts! You've managed to denigrate the greatness of america, with this intolerance. Cheers! :clink:

I wonder how many evangelical churches are built near to formerly bombed abortion clinics, and if this will somehow precipitate any faux outrage. Chances are slim to none, but I guess we'll find out!

Why is it that the only form of religious acceptance you lefties have is for Islam, which badly needs a reformation.

Do you know how sexist and oppressive islam is?

All religions are fake and stupid, why do you choose this battle for the rights of jihadists as your hill to die on?

The masonic influence is to pressure everyone to accept all abrahamic faiths.

the power of freemasonry is the power of the individuals involved in their conspiracy to control the world.

Do you disagree with what Obama said?

"Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country."

"That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances," he said. "This is America, and our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakable."

Again, that is not the debate. Reiterating the 1st Amendment is worthless when nobody is arguing the legality of the Mosque. He thought he could mouth platitudes on a controversial subject, but his unwillingness to voice an opinion was underlined the next day as he started saying, "I didn't say it was 'right'..." is what causes and creates the controversy surrounding his sentiments.

I dont have a debate with you... But Dixie has said differently.....

You, I expect to see engaging in fear mongering about muslims, jews, or blacks. That doesn't bother me, it's expected.

Its pretty disturbing to see the vast majority of republicans either trembling in fear of some mosque in lower manhattan, or egging on the wingnut crusade against it. I guess after 8 years of Bush worship and Iraq war mongering, it might be expected. But, it's catching me off-guard. It's way beyond reason; it's on the fringes of nuttery. What the f are you dudes afraid of, and how the f is this mosque a "slap" in the face to any sane person? Its not even on freaking ground zero. I mean, what are we living in - the dark ages? Who the f runs around screaming and wigging out about some mosque american muslims are building?

I don't like organized religion, but I believe that all deserve equal treatment.
