Most Republicans decree that marijuana should be illegal

Don't forget.. ambulance drivers, EMTs, and paramedics. We'll need them to take care of the people who got stoned and caused a wreck on the highway, or fell into a machine.

But,,,,,,,, they're getting stoned and driving right now.

You speak as if we're holding back a dam with something more than just our thumbs because of the legislation we live under at this time.

Maybe if we just gave everyone a piss test every month we could realize true victory by putting all of them through the legal system. Our brothers, and sisters. Children,,,,, other friends and loved ones.

Nothing personal, but maybe we should just give up our basic rights (constitutional rights) to win this war.

What kind of judgement should your own child receive for getting stoned?

20 yrs?

True, some people do get stoned and drive now, but I suspect not as many as would do it if getting stoned were legal. Some people also get stoned and veg out, becoming totally unproductive pot heads, but again, not as many as would do so, if getting stoned were legal.

And you can reel back in your rhetoric about judging and punishing people for getting stoned, I am on record favoring decriminalization, and don't have a problem with anything adults do in their own home. Were you attempting to paint me as some kind of uptight intolerant because you thought it helped your argument? Is that how shallow and superficial your argument is, that you have to find false ways to denigrate your opponent?

What's your logical basis for those amazing deductions, Dix-lie?

The republicans on this board are largely for legalization and regulation. While we may not be "most" republicans, we are certainly a microcosm. There are some here who would still want to put people into jail for MJ, it doesn't likely have large support among us.

To be clear, I am in favor of 'decriminalization' without full 'legalization.' I don't want it sold like cigarettes and taxed, I think that is a stupid idea. I also don't see the point in filling up our prisons with potheads. You should have the right to smoke pot in your home, or be in possession of small amounts.

Republicans oppose legalization by a wide 67%-30% margin and there are only modest differences between conservative Republicans and moderate and liberal Republicans– majorities of both groups oppose legalization.

Add in the 53% majority of moderate and conservative democrats who oppose legalization, and we see why this wasn't part of the Obama campaign platform.

Do we? Cite your source, Dix-lie.

The source I cited shows "A slim majority of Democrats (53%) favor legalizing the use of marijuana, while 43% are opposed."

The reason nobody uses it on their platform is because of the last line of that poll... The older people who vote in droves would kill any candidate's shot.

Same cite... 53% of conservative and moderate democrats do not favor legalization.

So you think screening out the respondent percentage subtotals to produce the result you like is scientific?

Awesome.

Ya think Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor's attack on senior entitlement programs will kill any GOP candidates shot?

I didn't screen anything, I just pointed out why your Messiah and VP Foot-in-Mouth didn't see fit to include MJ legalization in their campaign platform, and won't for 2012. It's because a majority of AMERICANS do not favor legalization. Libertarians and Liberals are not the only people with a political voice in America, and you seem to be forgetting that. If that were the case, this would not be an issue, we wouldn't be wasting time discussing it, because it would obviously be legal! But the reality is, America is comprised of people of many viewpoints, not just Liberal or Libertarian.

I didn't screen anything....

Your quote proves you're a liar, as if that wasn't already well-known.

Add in the 53% majority of moderate and conservative democrats who oppose legalization, and we see why this wasn't part of the Obama campaign platform.

Where's your source for that claim, Dix-lie? How does the poll I cited show why legalization of marijuana wasn't part of the Obama campaign platform, as you stated?

My quote is completely true and accurate. Proof is in the fact that Obama/Biden didn't make legalization a campaign issue or include it in their platform.

Where's your source for that claim, Dix-lie? How does the poll I cited show why legalization of marijuana wasn't part of the Obama campaign platform, as you stated?

Hey dumbass, look at the statistics from the very same poll you posted the link to! It's listed right there below where you got your information! It says very clearly, 53% of moderate/conservative democrats favor keeping marijuana illegal. It's from YOUR SOURCE... YOUR CITE! Is it a LIE? Is only THAT part a LIE, and the rest... the part YOU posted, NOT a LIE?

Again... by your OWN source.... 67% of republicans oppose legalization and 53% of moderate/conservative democrats oppose legalization, and THAT IS WHY IT'S NOT PART OF THE OBAMA PLATFORM AND WON'T BE!

RETARD!

Dixie is the dumbest rich boy on the board.

very few people of driving age are going to smoke that already don't, this is mainly prohibition and war on poor minorities. Hollywood celebs and Al Gore's kids get a slap on the wrist for pounds of coke and brothers get jail for a few joints.
Dixie and the Dixtards will swear blind allegiance to a comic book (the bible) but will ignore science. Ie. the modern conservatard.

Way more democrats favor legalization and decrim than republicans.
But dem politicians are pussies, first and foremost. Despite thier constiuents wishes these spineless dems vote against, they are afraid of republicans getting angry.

This is funny, since I suspect that you regard a "conservative Democrat" as a cross between Karl Marx and Ho Chi Minh.

My quote is completely true and accurate. Proof is in the fact that Obama/Biden didn't make legalization a campaign issue or include it in their platform.

So because most Democrats (53%) are in favor of legalizing marijuana, it wasn't a campaign issue or included in the platform?

BTW, are you sure it wasn't a campaign issue?

Is this the same "logic" that led to your conclusion on the existence of 1/3?

Do you think Obama gave a rat's ass what Republicans thought about the issue?

How many do you think voted for him?

The Health Care Act is unpopular in polls, and he stands behind it. Not everybody changes their principles because they're afraid of unpopularity, Dix-lie.

As to the subcategory of moderate/conservative Democrats that you cherry-picked, show me the proof that Obama really wanted to legalize marijuana, but was afraid to say so in his campaign, for fear of alienating conservative Democrat voters.

That's what you said, and if you can't back it up, that makes you a liar - again.

If you aren't too whipped by now to reply, please be certain to include lots of exclamation points and capital letters, as befits the Six-Point-Eight-Million Dollar Man.

Dixie is with Obama on this one. Both of these tools favor decrim, which is a lot better than jailing dumbass poor people.
