Ahhh, thanks. I needed that laugh.
We know two of the crimes were theft and there were two other non-violent crimes, according to the article. I'd like to know what those two were.
"The theft of the $159 jacket, taken in isolation, carries today a six-month jail term. It was combined at Jackson's sentencing hearing with his previous convictions – all for non-violent crimes including a robbery in which he took $216 – that brought him under Louisiana's brutal “four-strikes” law by which it became mandatory for him to be locked up and the key thrown away."
Sure hope I never see you bitch about gov spending.I didnt say that this was 'fair.' But that is their law and at the time, it was classed as a different felony.
And to be honest, I really could not care less if people that serially commit felony crimes against other persons get put in jail for life.
However that is just my personal feeling. Instead, I support a view more in line with the Constitution....and life for a few non-violent crimes seems like cruel and unusual punishment.
I also dont support it because it *probably* costs more for the taxpayers to support them for life (hard to say when you add in the costs of more future trials, costs of future crimes.....all those 'jackets' add up, and the costs financially and emotionally to their victims)
But as I said Annata...I have changed my position on 3 strikes laws for the same reasons I dont agree with zero tolerance policies, based on what you wrote early on in the thread. Thank you.

Ever give some a ride for gas money?
Some what?
So you engaged in unlicensed taxi/chauffeur work and I'm assuming you didn't file taxes on the money you took.
Ridiculous? Oh most certainly. But against the law none the less.
Crime doesn't pay.ACLU report chronicles thousands of ruined lives for crimes like shoplifting and possession of a crack pipe.

I asked you 'some what?' meaning I had no idea what you were referring to and that is your answer? LMAO, talk about being on autopilot and reading exactly what you expect to see to deliver some canned answer!
Now I see you meant have I taken gas money from anyone. THe answer is no.
However accepting gas money from someone is a felony? Even as you described it I'm sure there is specific amount before it is considered a felony.
And we were discussing felonies. (And who would be dumb enough to confess to felonies on the Internet?)
Tax evasion is a felony. And the point I'm making that it's that easy to commit one, while being completely unaware that you're doing so.
You seem more uneducated by the postI guess it's not easy for some to remember, if they ever knew, what it's like to work hard for something.
And then there's all that fear and loss of security when your home or car or person is violated.
you seem to be implying there should be no penalty at all. Nobody 'owns' anything, it's all up for grabs. Gee, where do you draw the line? Anywhere?

Did you go to college?
Uneducated people often jump to concussions like you do in your postAre you claiming you are having reading comprehension difficulties?
I think you may be like my dog and his selective hearing...
