More Floridians per capita move to California

Also, people aren't stupid.

Orlando is just a swamp that has been paved over. By mid century the heat and humidity will probably be so unbearable, it will generally only appeal to people who like to spend ten months a year indoors and don't mind $600/month air conditioning bills.

Orange County will always have a temperate climate because of the moderating marine effects of the Pacific Ocean.

The whole state is an ancient coral bed

Water flows underground everywhere through the voids the coral bed has

It’s why they won’t remove small alligators from any bodies of water

It’s a worthless task

New ones will just show up an hour later

Once they get a certain size they are stuck in whatever water body they are in

So removal makes sense

That means the ground everywhere is already saturated

Florida won’t be around much longer with global warming ocean rising

Don’t buy land there

2021 census data, the latest available, shows that
1.16 per 1,000 Floridians moved to California in 2021
and 0.96 Californians moved to Florida that year.

The slight trend of more Floridians moving to California, per capita, than the other way around has been the trend for decades, experts said.

This actually gives me hope. I'm betting the majority of these west bound pilgrims are leaving Florida because of the bullshit socialist crap they believe in. Screw 'em. More red state freedom for me to breathe in.

And... Our resident drug addled retard chimes in from her single-wide... As usual, she's full of shit.

So, how does "balked at" and "held out hope" = revolt?

If you have to use hyperbole, exaggeration and outright lie in order to push your agenda, then your agenda is probably phony to begin with.

Meanwhile, enjoy forking over even more of your paycheck for reparations to Crips and Bloods thugs who'll use it to buy Escalades, spinner rims, giant boom box speakers to blast their vile, obnoxious gangsta rap out of and more guns to slaughter each other as well as innocent store clerks with, as they rob them then decide to leave no witnesses.

Hopefully you all will get your money's worth.

Orlando is not in the middle of a swamp. The Everglades south of Lake Okeechobee in South Florida is a swamp. Orlando was pine scrubland.

Southern California OTOH is in the middle of a DESERT. Which is why they have to STEAL water from other states and are now drinking and bathing in recycled raw sewage.

https://calmatters.org/environment/... Diego State, treated waste for drinking water.

You can talk all you want to about how highly treated it is, but every time you drink tap water or from a public drinking fountain, you'll know that just yesterday, millions of people pissed and shit in it.

Drink up, California!!!

And how many/what percentage of southern Californians actually go skiing? Half of 1% tops? Puh-lease.

Anyway, it must be wonderful to look forward to the exact same weather on Christmas day as on the Fourth of July.

Wow. How awesome.

This California vs Florida shit has gotten so boring.

The reason why woke, SJW crowd has a hard on for Florida is obvious.

We don't kiss the feet and asses of society's favorite victim groups.

One of a small few positive aspects of a Republican majority.

Miami and Jacksonville both have higher crime rates than Los Angeles

It shouldn't be that painful for you to admit the climate in Orlando is substantially worse than Orange County, unless you love unbearable heat, humidity, and mosquitoes. I don't have any doubt that was a big factor Disney employees complained about being transferred to the humid swamplands of Orlando.

I hear Disney World is becoming almost unbearable in the Summer, with global warming continuing relentlessly

Maybe because our law enforcement just does a better job of catching and jailing our criminals because we don't have woke, SJW city leaders who order them to look the other way for certain crimes.

I have no problem admitting that it gets excessively warm and humid here for 1/3 of the year. But that is what comes along with having a plentiful supply of water, which comes down from the clouds in the form of rain. A function of the humidity in the atmosphere.

You all have low humidity but you pay for it by having to drink sewage.

I'll take the humidity.

And you think California is immune to that?

I hear temperatures in Southern California lately have been in the 90's too.

"Climate change is transforming the character of the West’s hottest periods — making them more frequent, more persistent, more humid and more lethal."

Looks like you all will be drinking lots and lots of toilet flushings in the coming years.

Enjoy!!

California takes your money in other ways too. California has a 77.9 cent gasoline tax. The highest gasoline tax in the country.

It also has some of the poorest roads. Many are so badly maintained they are reverting to dirt roads. Yes...that includes freeways.
CalTrans sucks.

Yeah but DeSantis and Fox said...

Florida used to be a low cost/low pay state, where you would not make much money, but many things were cheaper. Young people used to like to go there, and get a start, not needing much money.

DeSantis changed all that. Now it is a high cost/low pay state. Young people will not make much money, but they will have to pay through the nose to live there.

It is not effecting older people as much, yet. One major hurricane, and old people will get the message too. In the last 5 years, homeowners insurance has risen by 300%. It is sometimes impossible to get homeowners insurance at any price. A hurricane will bring home to old people that Florida is a place that can and will wipe out your nest egg.

It IS affecting older people now. Many can't afford homeowners insurance, if they can even find a company that will write them a policy. One of our JPP Floridians recently experienced problems with that. You're right. One natural disaster -- sinkhole, tornado, hurricane, flood, fire -- and they are both homeless and penniless if they don't have insurance.

Considering that people spend quite a lot of time outdoors in Orlando and other parts of Florida, it is obvious you have never been there.
Orlando is not a swamp, but has many swamps and lakes. It isn't the Everglades, dope.

Orange County is just a desert that's been paved over. Today, Orange County enjoys an extremely high crime rate, most of which no longer gets reported, since the police are quitting. It's not quite as bad as L.A. is yet, but it's going the same way.

Hurricanes do arrive in Orlando, but it weathers them quite well, being centrally located. It has been described as an 'amusement park city', due to the high number of large amusement parks. North of that city lies The Villages, a retirement community covering three counties (and still expanding!). Critters include the alligator and crocodiles, a fast moving black snake called a 'racer', and an occasional monkey problem. Vegetation is lush.

Earthquakes occur regularly in Orange County, as well as high Santa Ana winds, making the dry vegetation a tinderbox for wildfire (most of that is caused by arson). Critters include rats, rattlesnakes, and what's left of the fentynal users after regular use of the stuff. Oppressive laws are the norm in the SDTC, from high taxes to bans on guns, gasoline cars, toilets that work, etc. There is also a paranoia about oil and oil products, solder, epoxies, guns, fireworks, lead, carbon, viruses, and anything that has a chemical sounding name in it. Vegetation is sparse (except where it's manicured), consisting primarily of sagebrush (where tumbleweeds come from) and a bit of grass.

No one moves back to California for those reasons... but I thought the economy was great... why are things so expensive in California... not comparable to Florida by the way...

Remember in 9th grade civics class when they explained how our economy works, and what supply and demand are? Oh, that's right. You were under the bleachers picking up cig butts again for skipping English class.

Popular places to live are expensive because they are popular. If there are 10 houses for sale and 100 buyers, what do you think the price of those houses will do? What happened to all of us in the pandemic when there were shortages of stuff? Prices went up, right, Toxic? You're STILL crying about that to this day.

Good grief. Why do the gods make so much stupid?

You have to normalize for population size to be able to compare statistically across states. The number of people leaving California can't be statistically compared to the number of people leaving Rhode Island, unless you normalize for population size.

On average, per every thousand Floridians, more of them are moving to California than the other way around.

Not to mention there is probably a brain drain on Florida. California is expensive, and is probably mostly drawing educated and high income Floridians.

I've read recently that a lot of teachers are leaving the state, too. Usual reasons -- better pay elsewhere, lower cost of living, no desire to worry about teaching the "wrong thing" according to DeSantis and being disciplined.

The whole state is an ancient coral bed
No, it isn't. The geology of Florida, while unique, is primarily sand and clay over limestone bedrock.
Water flows underground everywhere through the voids the coral bed has
No coral bed there. Water flows underground pretty much everywhere...even in the desert.

Why should they?
New ones will just show up an hour later
Probably.

No, alligators are not 'stuck in a body of water'. They can and regularly do wander (even full grown adults) across the land, getting literally everywhere. They can be found in any lake, even artificial ones. They have been found in swimming pools, but they generally avoid them because of the chlorine.

Alligators and crocodiles can be found up to the Carolina's and west all the way out to some parts of Texas. These are freshwater critters, avoiding salt water. They generally avoid people (their biggest predator!), but will go for pets fairly often.

That means the ground everywhere is already saturated
Not everywhere.
Florida won’t be around much longer with global warming ocean rising
No gas or vapor is capable of warming the Earth, dummy. You cannot create energy out of nothing.
It is not possible to measure the global sea level, but no noticeable difference has been found in sea level (ignoring tides and storm surges).
Don’t buy land there
Land in Florida is still there, and people are buying it. They don't believe you. There is no reason they should. Your religion does not change the weather or any law of science. You simply deny those theories of science as well as mathematics.

Still trying to deny shortages, eh? You really should've paid attention to economics.

The FBI data complies reports of crimes, not convictions of crimes.

Are you now going to say that citizens of Miami are just
more diligent about reporting crimes than Angelenos?

Also, I'm pretty sure that Miami is run by Democrats just like Los Angeles.

I don't have a problem with you or anyone else living in Florida. But I have a right to respond when California is called a dystopian hell hole that people are fleeing for the heavenly paradise of Florida. That's just a cartoon caricature.
