More Californians than ever want to secede from US

More Californians are now hoping their state secedes from the United States, a new poll shows.

About 32 percent of Californians want to create their own country, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll found, including many Democrats who are frustrated with President Trump’s win. Pollsters surveyed 500 Californians between Dec. 6 and Jan. 19.

Nationally, 22 percent of respondents favor secession, they found.

The movement — dubbed “Calexit” — began after Trump won the 2016 election.

A group of liberal Californians formed the Yes California Independence campaign with the hopes of getting a secession initiative on the state’s 2018 ballot.

When a similar poll was conducted in 2014, about 20 percent of Californians supported secession.

California now has a strong Democratic majority in its state legislature. The state easily gave each of its Electoral College votes to Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton in November.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has also vowed to fight Trump on the president's policies, including climate change.

"We've got the scientists, we've got the lawyers and we're ready to fight," Brown said in a December speech.

He also threatened that California would “launch its own damn satellite” of the Trump administration eliminates NASA’s earth science programs, which gather information on climate change.

"If Trump turns off the satellites, California will launch its own damn satellite," Brown added.

I have to laugh at the conglomeration of RW asswipes that scoffed at polls before, now citing them left and right.

Where's Desh when you need her with "they want to tear this union asunder"?

One poll showed half of Texas republicans wanted to secede after Obama was elected.

"Every once in a while, just when we think we have seen it all, a poll cross the Fix desk that makes us do a double-take.

This is that poll.

In a new survey by Research 2000 for the liberal Daily Kos blog, Texas voters were asked whether the Lone Star State would be better off as an "independent nation" or as part of the United States.

Overall, more than six in ten chose the latter option. (No big surprise there.) But, among Republicans, 48 percent said it would be better for Texas if the state was an independent nation -- the same number who said they would prefer the state remain a part of the United States.

Just to reiterate
: roughly half of all self-identified Texas Republicans in the Research 2000 poll said they would rather their state be an independent nation.

This is when she used to say the right wanted this nation 'torn asunder'. She's posted here since this California secession has been announced and she wouldn't say the same thing. Not that her response (or non response) was surprising of course

I can't get worked up about something that's never going to happen.

And Now, the Cali's understand why the Texan's wanted out.

At least Texas has always spoken about being its own country. We're just doing so because we're sore losers over one election.
