People who fight wars when they spend their money on food, cloths, ect there isn't a "Multiplier" effect? The whole Keynesian nonsense would suppose they would have some of the biggest affects since most military personel are not rich "savers". Plus Bush set records on Pill Bills, Welfare, ect ect. He spent money on everything and it sure as hell didn't stimulate jack. The idea he didn't have abig enough deficit is what Democrats are really saying.

Food stamps, Unemployment Benefits, Tax Holiday, Tax Rebate, Temp. across the board Tax Cut, Non-refundable Tax Rebate....
ALL of these things put more money into the hands of citizens.....
Call it whatever you want, TAX rebate, TAX cut, whatever...its all the same thing....
PEOPLE GETTING TO KEEP MORE OF THEIR OWN MONEY.....so whats the argument...

Making Bush Tax Cuts permanent...do little because they have ALREADY provided the intended result.....there just ain't that much more to squeeze out ...but letting them run out is just like raising taxes..the direct opposite of what the stimulus package intends...

If you look at them you will realize that the numbers increased during years whne we were also fighting a Dust Bowl and were at their precrash levels before we went into WWII.

The war did feed the economy and that is why the Rs always use war to make it look good.

The recovery was there beofre we entered the war though fellla.

It depends on how they are applied. Tax Credits aimed at getting people to spend are a stimulus. This simplistic chart notwithstanding. (Statistics can lie, if you use them 'properly', especially if you use bad assumptions to begin with).

For instance, "If you have under 'this much' (insert amount) earnings and buy a car you get 'this much' (insert amount) of tax credit.

See how you can aim them at people who need it most at the same time?

it is not used to make war itself look good, only to show that FDR's policies are not the magic wand that fixed the depression like most dems claim. i don't speak for all republicans...

Its not that WWII "helped" us get out of the Depression. WWII was the single and entire reason that we got out. Without WWII, we would have been in worse shape by year-end, 1939, than at the volley point of 1932.

I hate when liberals get this wrong, because it is quite simple.

The country knew republicans were bankrupt of ideas outside of tax cuts long before Obama took office.

It's way past time to stop playing games and to get on with the business of addressing America's ills.

By the time Obama gets done playing with republicans the stimulus plan will be stripped down, full of more tax cuts.

At what point will Obama supporters demand that Obama get down to doing what he was elected to do .. be the President, not a mediator?

Why should any sane person give the slightest damn what disgraced republicans want?

No I have set up college trusts for the grandchildren. So the son unit or some other member of my first wifes family cannot use it for something else.
I guess what I am saying is college will not always make a loser into not a loser.
college makes you educated not smart.

Larry Summers and Tim Geithner have degrees up the ass, yet they are as responsible for this financial disaster as anyone on the planet .. and Phil Gramm, who has a doctorate and was a professor of economics, is more responsible for this disaster than anyone in congress.

Having degrees didn't mean shit.
