In my opinion, the First would prohibit a Government Run parallel court system. I seriously doubt they have such a thing in the UK.

The only thing that can be done with Sharia law in the United States is that individuals and companies can agree in Contract to settle disputes under the tenants of Sharia law, and if individuals agreed to this, in as much as the Court's found that the agreement was not unconscionable, they would enforce that agreement.

That is the only way I can see that the tenants of Sharia Law could be enforced by a U.S. Court.

You either don't understand what a Government Court is versus a religious private tribunal.

When you call it a Court System, you are implying it has the power of government behind it, it does not. Are you suggesting that private individuals should not be allowed to participate in religious tribunals IF they chose?

Anyone carrying out an action that is illegal, under the "Sharia Tribunal" would be guilty of a crime in the U.K. or the U.S., any "judge" encouraging illegal action would be committing a crime in the U.S. or U.K..

I dont like it when Sharia is used to harm women, but I also dislike your characterization of it as if it were a government function. If women CHOSE to live under Sharia, it is there right. Just like many women chose to live in a culture where they are to be subservient to their Christian husbands, I don't like it, but it is there right.

You are confusing religious choices with government functions.

If we are going to ban Sharia Law because it subjugates women, you are opening the door to banning what many consider "Christian Law" regarding men being the "head of a household".
